Why do they always come out with brand new phones with specs that have been slightly upgraded? When you see a new phone come out they should make you want to buy it. Why upgrade and pay $1500 for the exact same phone with a slight bump in specs?

Had my Note 5 for years and only switched to the Note 9 in November 2019. What can I say, that damn Note 5 worked great for me, never a problem and it actually still works today. But I do like new tech and I agree with what Ayez said, I’d like to see Samsung take more bold chances with the Note line. There needs to be definitive differences between the Note and S lines beyond the S pen – I’m not willing to pay a crap-ton more money just for the benefit of using a stylus.

How long have I been hanging on?!!
    Seems like FOREVER!!!
I am currently STILL using a Note 5.
    Yep.
    # 5.
(What’s the prize for having the oldest Note still living & working?!! Hahaha!)
And lemme tell ya, it’s starting to get worn out…
    But I DO Love it.

    …sigh…

And now, I cannot live without a Note.
    Gotta have the S Pen.
That’s all there is to it!

Waaay back when I bought this, (only 4 years ago), it was at the tail end of the #5 availability.
Which is about a year after they 1st came out. I believe the #5 came out in 2015?
So I snuck an extra year of “newness” into the long run! (sort of…)
And it HAS been a LONG RUN!!

    AND

When I bought it brand new from the Sprint store, I paid full price, up front.
    No payments.
    No lease.
    Cash on the barrel head!
Can you guess how much it cost?
Beware – this low # might turn your stomach a little bit.
    A whopping $250.00 !!!
    That was the going rate.
    No discounts.
As a matter of fact, I remember feeling slightly miffed bcuz the price of phones had gone up $50. from 2 years previous, when I had purchased the previous phone.
And back then paying even $200. for a telephone was an extraordinarily HIGH price.
But bcuz the Galaxy Note series was LOADED with such GREAT features, I went ahead and paid that “HIGH PRICE”.
And NOW look what has happened to the prices!!! GEEEEZ!!!
    Talk about PRICE GOUGING!!!
The high prices we all pay for good phones may SEEM “normal” now, but really, it has only been FOUR short years since cell phone prices have really gotten out of hand.
To me, it definitely feels like BOTH Samsung AND Apple have taken advantage of all of us in the money department.
And yet, we the people, keep paying whatever they ask!

Part of the reason I still have a Note 5 instead of a newer Note is bcuz of those high prices. The other part is bcuz my Note 5 is still working just fine. Altho, truth be told, I WOULD be happier if it had a removable SD card…
Other than THAT, I might be tempted to actually keep it forever!!
But I’m sure Samsung will soon put a stop to updating my precious.
What a racket they have going, huh!?!

I’m not usually someone who chintzes out on new things just bcuz of the price.
If it is worth it, I’ll pay for it.
But in this case, Samsung certainly makes me feel like a penny pincher…
    Or maybe I’m just a normal someone… ?
    Who knows anymore.
The world has gone berzerk in soooo many ways…

Maybe this terrible pandemic is what it will take to make people stop paying outrageous cell phone prices?
A few other good things have come out of this pandemic experience.
    (Albeit, only a few…)
So why not the lowering of good cell phone prices?

    If only…

WHEN WILL THIS ???? MADNESS END!???

Samsung galaxy note 10 plus battery isn’t bad, but could be better, and 120hz display could be exciting, but not sure most average users would notice that much difference, and bet , longer battery will be more crucial to an average buyers. Note 20’s price tag could be more important also. More S pen different usage could bring more buyers too. And better design could be important.

I am using my Note8 since October 2017. What I’d like to see is the return of the heart rate sensor. I’m using this on my Note8 often. And the headphone jack. A reason for me to not replace my Note8 by the Note 10 last year.

How has your note 8 held up in terms of speed and battery life

    • juan vazquez

      July 22, 2020 at 7:13 am

@wolf hunter it’s been great in both, battery last around 6 to 8 hours depending on the usage and speed I have not noticed any difference ever since I got it almost 3 years ago. I would keep it for longer but both back and front are cracked and is pretty expensive to fix them both, plus due to many drops the fingerprint sensor is not working anymore. It works more than well even with the damage and if I had been more careful with it, I would still hold my money for another generation of note.

Note 20 wish list: 10000 maH battery folks… S-pen having a mini camera and a microphone. Maybe dual screen (kinda like surface duo coming pretty soon ), IR blaster, keep reverse wireless charging, lastly bring back headphone jack!

I’ve been hanging on to my pixel 2 XL for over 2 years. I might upgrade to a pixel 4 XL or wait until pixel 5 comes around next year. At this point it’s hard to tell if I will like the new philosophy with the pixel lineup as we hear that it will change to an higher end midranger.
