He’ll move a few office people. He couldn’t move manufacturing there. He would lose billion$ and quality would suffer. Training people takes years.

      July 16, 2024 at 8:22 pm

People go where the work is, and he’ll save loads in taxes. He’ll likely get some great incentives from the state and the city. He’ll get to build a brand new facility that’s suited to what they know now rather than what they though then (if you get my meaning) and will likely be able to automate more. The good staff will follow and he’ll be able to dump the chaff and hire new, better people in many cases. Won’t be free, but a good move in the long run.

Newsome is mandating all cars sold in CA are to be electric by 2035.

The only alternative to Tesla is Chinese EVs, which although cheaper, are prone to spontaneous combustion.

    • @smgdfcmfah

      July 16, 2024 at 8:30 pm

@@Someuser_bc There are NO Chinese brand cars that are currently allowed to be sold in the US. The cars made in China that are sold in the US are mostly American companies. By 2035 (if things continue as they are) there will be plenty of EV cars available – but Tesla will likely be out of the game by then or will have sold to a bigger company (likely Elon’s plan all along).

    • @Someuser_bc

So pretty much what I was saying earlier. Tesla is the only real EV option besides those made in China. No other car company comes close (yet) in terms of EV production. That will likely change in the upcoming years, but for now that’s how things are.

SpaceX is putting more equipment into space at a lower cost per ton than NASA. Musk has some kind of formula for excellence that only he and his top people understand; and they’ve analyzed and calculated that California does not offer the best conditions for long term success. Very unfortunate for a state that used to be the leader in innovations and scientific break-throughs. Go SpaceX! Looking forward to your next launch and more success.
