“Maximize your Range, buy a… HYBRID”
@joelnehl
August 28, 2024 at 10:26 am
I have a Prius Prime (plugin hybrid) and use the free public chargers we have in town, I’ve only used 3 gallons of gas since the beginning of March, my car says I’m averaging 999.9 mpg, which is the highest it goes. I plan my routes to take city streets instead of freeways and rarely use the air conditioning. I know this isn’t the car for everyone, but it works well for me.

The comment I was about to write. A toyota prius or hybrid car will be better than a pure electric one

Thanks for watching. These tips also apply to Plug-In Hybrids and Combustion vehicles as Antuan stated near the top of the video.

Maybe 10 years ago… No reason anymore relly for hybrids with todays ranges – just more maintenance costs with a dual system.
Renge anxiety is what people who have not tried switching to an EV get.

Electric cars depreciate faster than combustion cars, they don’t really save you any money

I wouldn’t buy an EV until Solid State batteries are well established. Solid State batteries will have longer range, quicker charge, and not an extreme fire hazards. Stick with gas cars for at least another 5 years.

SSBs will be here in 3-5 years. 7-10 years would be enough of a test for them. Otherwise, get a hybrid.

@@Ou8y2k2maybe? You are more optimistic than I am. Generally 25 years to manufacture ability I.e. LiFePO batteries discovered in 1976 by Exxon, first published in 1996, first use (toys) 2003, first BEV announced 2013 CATL, mass manufactured 2022. I know SSB’s were discovered in the early 1980’s, the manufacture cost is still too high for mass market.

@@wj9494 With Toyota, Quantum Scape, SolidPower, and Samsung in the game, the manufacture cost may not be too high for long. CATL, BYD, and Tesla are no doubt studying their potential. Toyota even planned on doing a showcase around the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but the tech wasn’t there and COVID happened. I see 3-5 years as realistic, not optimistic since it’s already been around 40 years, and it isn’t fusion power. 😉

Buying an EV is the same end result as going to a Vegas Casino. In the end, you will likely lose most of your money and regret it.

Really important to note: the door seal is the MAX pressure. Your actual operating tire pressure is in the manual. Or for Mercedes, on the gas cap door.
