Read through the specs, nothing to write home about. Sticking with my GP8 for now.

Given even the $5000 camera setups and even the more expensive commercial stuff all have issues with horizontal stuttering, shimmering, light issues, physical stability of the camera while moving, then I doubt even a gopro 20 will do the job properly. I appreciate the occasional action video from a gopro user but they are usually unwatchable on a 65 inch tv in 4k.

Doesn’t seem like they gave enough reasons to upgrade, unless you want the different colored fonts.

actually comparing clips next to each other, in this case between hero 9 footage and hero 10 footage, would have made this review credible, …but sadly…. your verbal opinion can never ever compete with showing us real footage… next to each other… i had to stop watching this 1/3 in….. since there is no real content in here, that could be considered for an opinion on my own, nor for a purchase……

go pro 8 battery works on 9 and 10?

    • Josh Goldman @ CNET

      September 16, 2021 at 3:46 pm

No, the 8 has a smaller pack. The 9 and 10 use the same battery.

im still waiting for chinese action cameras on amazon to copy the superwide angle of go pro. super wide angle field of view of gopro was only the best thing they have the rest are trash it overheats, freeze and leaks

And again oversaturated video with fish eye lenses ugh from this little device like all goPro not that Pro

    • DANIEL Rogness

      September 17, 2021 at 7:00 am

Are you complaining about the settings used or do you think the HERO10 can only record “fisheye” and saturated?

      Lens available:
Superview (4:3 Wide dynamically stretched to 16:9)
      Wide
      Linear (not fisheye)
Linear + Horizon Leveling (not fisheye)
      Narrow (not fisheye)

      Color available:
      Vibrant (high saturation)
      Natural (true-to-life color)
Flat (neutral color with longer S-curve and more detail in shadows and highlights)

So should I upgrade to $499 from Hero 7 and 8?

    • Damian Jones

      September 16, 2021 at 9:22 pm

No. Wait until they’ve updated the cam to stop possible overheating issues.

  16. Argiris Bomb

    September 16, 2021 at 4:47 pm

Hello, the issue with battery overheat which was a prob in 9, is still a prob with 10?

    • Josh Goldman @ CNET

      September 16, 2021 at 10:15 pm

I didn’t experience any overheating though it does get warm if you record continuously, esp. combined with the high frame rates/resolution. And if you couple that with hot weather, I’m sure it’s possible to get it to shut down, it just didn’t happen in the short time I’ve been using it.

It doesn‘t film 4k60 hdr right? Like no hdr at any resolution?

    • Josh Goldman @ CNET

      September 17, 2021 at 2:32 pm

Correct. Just HDR photos. It’s possible the GP2 can do it tho so maybe for the H11?

  19. GamingwarzLA

    September 16, 2021 at 5:34 pm

The question is this better the new 13 iPhone pro if not this will do horrible in sales

  20. Jezabel Pagan

    September 16, 2021 at 6:56 pm

Just the 4K 120fps is enough to upgrade!

  21. Concerned Newfie

    September 16, 2021 at 7:55 pm

wow, after watching hundreds of 4k hdr streetwalks, i can pick the flaws out of any video these day…. glad to see hypersmooth REDUCES stutter somewhat. Maybe in 10 years these tiny camera’s will do photorealism correct. At 3:24 the camera pans right, its nothing but stuttering garbage. At 3:31, I dont even consider that low light video watchable.

  22. allenmovies

    September 16, 2021 at 8:11 pm

Unless the battery life is decent and the low light is improved, I am not interested. I’d rather wait for the DJI Action 2!

  23. DonnaCCISCO

    September 16, 2021 at 11:12 pm

Can you zoom in while videotaping?

    • DANIEL Rogness

      September 17, 2021 at 6:50 am

Not during a recording, but since it’s digital zoom, you can just do this in post editing. Record in 5.3K and you can apply zoom in post edit, even when using a 4K timeline, without losing detail.

  28. Anthony Hershko

    September 17, 2021 at 5:37 am

Is it better than GoPro Max? Cause I bought 2 months ago.
    Thanks!

    • Josh Goldman @ CNET

      September 17, 2021 at 2:47 pm

Not better but different. If you’re looking for pure high-resolution video and a ton of shooting options, the Hero 9/10 is a better choice. The Max is great if you want one camera to capture all the action around you as well as having a traditional “action cam”. It essentially gives you a multi-camera shoot with a single camera.

Still no ability to insert a micro sim card to Live Stream directly from the Go Pro without having to connect it to an external internet device .

It sure would be convenient to have a micro sim card slot with 5G capability .

you might as well buy a phone at that point

  31. Lurks World

    September 17, 2021 at 2:35 pm

Great video review, hope it will perform well for continuous recording as previous Gopros had issues with overheat on anything higher than 4k60 like I do for my Driving videos on my channel.
