I will never spend a thousand dollars for a phone that might have a barely discernable better camera. This Phone will be great for years to come

That’s because you’re only comparing it from a camera perspective. Budget phones have to pick a niche to specialise in for their category and be mediocre in the rest, Pixel with cameras, iPhone with processors, Samsung with displays, etc. The point of a flagship is to have it all should anyone want it.

765g for 449? You can get a One Plus 8 with SD865 and 90hz for 400. Might consider if it had a better chipset…

yes the one person for whom the specs is everything. No care for camera battery software support/experience and chinese spyware inside phone

      August 18, 2021 at 6:25 am

But the software and camera is just better on the pixel. That’s the downside for the oneplus. Also the software issues that have been causing the 8 to drain battery like crazy. That was gonna be my first choice, but I decided to return it because of those issues and went with the iPhone 11.

      August 18, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I returned my oneplus and went back to a pixel 3 for better software and camera. The oneplus was beautiful but I had weird errors all the time and their camera was awful.

Am I the only person who dislikes wireless charging? It takes waaaaaay too long to charge simple devices. USB-C all the way.

    • Lamar Smith

      August 18, 2021 at 6:51 am

Wireless charging does have it’s Advantages, it’s just not the ending of the world if you have it or not.

Pixel 5A will do for me until Apple gets rid of their notch.

I bought the Pixel 3a when it came out, and that’s been my phone ever since. Still performs pretty well, but after two years the battery will surely give up soon. I’m thinking the 5a will definitely be an upgrade option for me, depending on how much the Pixel 6 is going to be!

No C band support gets a big Nope from me and a strong recommendation against for my stepfather who is more than ready for a cheap and decent new Pixel device on Verizon.

Still a good phone for $450, but ridiculous not to simply enable something that’s already present in the software for the benefit of Verizon and AT&T customers.

I am on Verizon Wireless. I have had 3 pixel devices. I will either good with a pixel 6 pro. Or Motorola edge pro if we get that in the USA.

  13. Jake Rheault

    August 18, 2021 at 11:52 am

I have a pixel 3 I could have upgraded last December but the pixel 5 and the Motorola edge plus . Wasn’t enough of an upgrade, and Motorola had some issues with the curved screen in the edge plus.

Funny Android fanboys bash Apple because their iphone looks the same as previous year but became silent on this. This is worse, basically a Pixel 4a with no improvement to the chipset(3 years old chipset) except for the bigger battery. Not even an upgrade to the camera which Pixel phones are lauded for.

What a joke man. Android fanboys are just cheap poor people that makes the loudest noise(complaints).

I just got a 4a 5G a couple of months ago. Only thing I wish it had is the water resistance that this 5a has. Otherwise, I’m very happy with my 4a. ????

    • Andrew Bingham, Jr.

      August 19, 2021 at 8:17 pm

Could be water resistant, they could’ve not paid for it to get verified as water resistant.

I’m with Xfinity Mobile & I used to get 64Mbps Down. Now for some reason I’m getting between 65-100Mbps Down.
T-Mobile is just slow & High Dollar. I have 2 phones on “Truly” unlimited for $30ea a month. Some are capped after 20g down but I use upwards of 50+g a month & I’ve never been capped or slowed down. (Could be where I’m at, S. of Houston) However, I’ve tried all the major carriers & by far Xfinity Mobile has been the best. Their map shows I get Ultra Band 5g but I’m happy with my 4g Note 10+ ????

Basically a Pixel 4A 5G with IP rating and a larger battery..and slightly cheaper cost and metal back
    but its getting heavier.. 4A was 150+ gram, 4A 5G was 160+gram, 5A 5G with bigger battery is 183gram..

Ordering the 5a, but bummed it doesn’t have a 90hz screen.

  32. Gregg Moscoe

    August 19, 2021 at 8:25 pm

I’m very satisfied with my 4A 5G, And other than its general performance, the big selling points for me were two of the custom apps: the Google coal screening app, and the “hold for me” app that literally saves me hours of time sitting on hold. My only wishes? A larger battery, wireless charging, and a microSD capability.

I’m not a power user, so a phone like this is perfect for me because it’s above average in performance and features, and the two apps I mentioned are worth the price of admission alone. And the great deal I got on this from T-Mobile sealed the deal.
