i was enamored by the V8 Volante coupe when i saw it in The Living Daylights.

now, after watching all the Aston Martins featured in Bond films, i can say that V8 Volante is definitely still my favorite. it’s got a perfect combo of modern and classic style. glad it came back for Craig’s swan song.

(the DBS with its modern sleek design but more muscle-y tone than the Vanquish comes second.)

    • Tan_ Tama13

Why is it that we don’t see these amazing BONG GADGETS in the new Bond movies!? It hasn’t felt like a James Bond movie since the Pierce Brosnan days. Nothing towards Daniel Craig I actually like him as Bond but the writing has changed so much. He’s a British spy give him some dam cool gadgets!

    • Bangkok Rugby

      October 7, 2021 at 7:14 pm

Because the invisible car and such like got silly and took away the seriousness of Bond. I do agree thought to thrown in 1 or 2 gadgets but lets not go OTT.

    • joe willson

      October 8, 2021 at 12:02 am

@Bangkok RugbyThe invisible car was definitely a stretch, but it had its moments of being cool. Overall though I agree with you about the invisible car. But they for sure need to add 2-3 cool gadgets in these bond films or it just doesn’t feel like a bond film.

This is probably heresy for some, but I’m getting kinda fed up with the DB-5. They’ve been beating that beautiful thing to death as a Bond-car with all its retro appearances in the Brosnan- and Craig-eras. I find myself gravitating more and more towards Lazenby’s 6-cylinder DBS. Such a timeless and elegant design – masculine throughout, but still with some feminine touches. I guess that’s why I prefer it to the later V8 version which looked a bit too much like the DBS on steroids. But since we’re talking about Astons, all this is high level moaning anyway… 😉

I wonder why the MI6 would give him a million dollar car for use once and destroyed in the entire movie. Funny thing is every movie with Daniel Craig has DB5. Why build out the other cars? I can understand the value, but destroy one car for one incident, that’s movies. Not the character in the books.

Odd that he never saw fit to mention Giuseppe Seregni who designed the DB4 , 5 and 6 when he worked at Touring the very cars that created Aston Martins future design language . Also Ian Callum who re – descovered and re-established said language (DB7 and Vanquish)followed by Henrik Fisker (DB9) .

Any type of Aston Martin are good, but never beats the DB5, but I wish they bring back the DB10, also love a convertible, speedster and a track version of the DB10, but I see why they moved to DB11, not get the DB10 mixed up and be a limited production, but wished DB8 was a thing too, would they add the DBX into the franchise or what would they do? Love if they bring back all the Aston Martin in the next movie as well as other Bond cars too, so yeah

    • SparrowNoblePoland

      October 16, 2021 at 2:54 am

Ferraris are track oriented, ill suited for low speeds and twisty roads. In rallying it’s quite normal that heavily inferior cars win specific stages. Especially twisty and downhill. The most extreme cases were probably Citroen Visa (1.4 liter NA) and Fiat 126 (650cc) winning with Porsche 911 on several consecutive stages.

  169. luchadorito

    October 14, 2021 at 10:14 am

Aston Martin has been using that specific grille shape since day 0. When Ford bought Aston they took that shape and used it for their own cars thus devalueing the design. If you look at every modern Ford, they have that very specific shape. The 2015 Ford Mondeo/Fusion is the most notorious one with the AM grille. Now AM are changing the design language they had since the 50s.

    1987 V8 Vantage
It probably wasn’t intended as such, but to me, the Goldeneye chase is a nod to the Aston DBS and Ferrari Dino chase in the pilot episode of The Persuaders in the same location. Roger Moore in an Aston which is a reason why he never drove one as 007. But then, we were given the Lotus Esprit, so no great shame. The next Bond in an Evija would be a game-changer.
Ian Fleming did put Bond in an Aston in at least one of his novels (a DB2/4, I believe) so that’s where the association actually started.
