Designed for safety-conscious runners and bikers or just people who don’t like having any kind of earbuds in their ears, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds have a unique design that some will love and some may not. CNET’s David Carnoy discusses whether they’re right for you and compares them to Bose’s standard Sport Earbuds and Bose’s Frames audio sunglasses, which also use the company’s OpenAudio technology.

I love the headphones’ principle, but I like to use them during a run, and I can’t wear sunglasses. So they’re a flop like all their headphones.

Seems like a very niche product

Agree that the fit takes some getting used to. Think it’s also kind of strange that the carrying case isn’t chargeable and the charger that it comes with is pretty strange. Picked these up for running and I’m still deciding if I like them. Nice work on the review ????????

I so want to love these because I can’t do in ear, but seeing how they kink your ears makes me think they won’t work out.

Did you happen to try them running/cycling with sunglasses?

      Yes, they work with glasses.

Within the last few years, I’ve tried a few in-ear such as; the last 3 types of Samsung, JBL, Jabra, etc.. At the end of the day, it was the Bose 700 over the ear which won me over. For their comfort, not necessarily for the base or anything else.. Oh, and lets not forget to mention the call quality, and noise cancelling. Top Notch…

One issue apparent due to the new design, persons who wear glasses cannot use them. The hook is placed where the frame arms rest one the ears.

You can wear glasses with them.

I think these were made for people that have been wanting a pair of earbuds that don’t go directly into the ear. A lot of people have stuck with things like the original Airpods (despite the terrible sound quality) for the fit so something that is better overall should satisfy those that can’t use the typical wireless earbuds.

Disappointing that after 4 years of AirPods, Bose still can’t manage to make calls using just the left piece.

Exhaust the right piece on a call and you have a useless left piece with full battery doing nothing stored in the case.

    • David Carnoy

I wore them with mask and glasses. Mask is fine getting on but gotta be careful taking it off because hooks on mask can get hooked on buds’ hook.
