Dang I expected a much better and more in-depth coverage of CES from a group like CNET. You’ve got broke youtubers with less than 2k subs putting out higher quality content than a company that makes bank off both tech and Youtube.

    Electric Salt Spoon?

  44. @mabi0519

    January 11, 2025 at 9:48 am

Businesses: concentrate your collective resources to build AI and robots the improve efficiency on menial chores (mowing the lawn, shoveling snow…picking up around the house) and forget about the creative realm. We want MORE time to do that part, not less.

  45. @theFoodieCyclist

    January 11, 2025 at 10:45 am

There’s already something similar to HMD Offgrid on the market: the Garmin Messenger Plus (it does messaging, sos + photos / audio messages)

  46. @Owjdnskoakansbskk

    January 11, 2025 at 11:11 am

    Resist AI!
The “problems” it’s being used to solve aren’t real problems. It’s going to bring more harm than good. Jobs will continue to be replaced, cars will glitch out like they already have on Teslas, and who knows when an AI system decides to do something intentionally. People are already using it to replace human relationships and to do their homework and college assignments. We’re going to get dumber, lazier and lonelier while the richest CEOs get richer owning companies selling this crap and replacing their employees with it.

Not to mention every AI tool injected in your computers and phones are privacy nightmares.

  47. @FooTude

    January 11, 2025 at 11:43 am

The Honda cars are horrendous! ????

  48. @ThatSoddingGamer

    January 11, 2025 at 12:54 pm

Wild that ‘play audio’ is treated as an afterthought feature of those earbuds in the script. Like, the inventor was interviewed and they went on about ‘biometric monitoring’, ‘blocking the sounds of snoring’, and ‘comfortable to sleep while wearing’, and when asked about its audio playback features they responded ‘oh, it can do that too I guess, if you want to for some reason’. Wonder about the audio quality on it.

Wish they make PS5 SLIM in Shape of a Laptop, for Travel that would be nice
Some mods do that, but need one available around the World

  54. @TheCharleseye

    January 12, 2025 at 5:09 am

Are they going to make a Kirin sugar spoon, because that’s what’s actually causing the most damage. A little extra salt here and there is no big deal compared to the insane amounts of sugar people are eating.

  55. @minimalist1911

    January 12, 2025 at 5:17 am

Dear CNET, why don’t you do a look back series on past CES shows, and whether any of the big tech showcased then ever made it to the mainstream consumer market? Worth a thought.

OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger takes us back to the transformative moment he let his AI agent loose on the internet, igniting one of the world’s fastest-growing open-source projects. He makes a fascinating (and slightly unnerving) case that agents are a real shift, not just better versions of chatbots, and explores how they might reshape your ability to work, build and create. “The lobster is loose, and it’s not going back into the tank,” he says. (Followed by a brief Q&A with TED Chairman Chris Anderson) (Recorded at TED2026 on April 16, 2026)
