When you’re on opposite sides of an issue, how do you broker peace with your adversaries and work together to solve a problem? Follow along as animal rights activist Leah Garcés recounts three lessons she learned in hatching an ambitious plan to end chicken factory farming with the last person she expected: a chicken farmer.

Plant and animal protein are not interchangeable. Buy free range chicken if you can afford to, but don’t be fooled into thinking soy replacements are remotely healthy or sustainable.

    • CompilingInput

      October 1, 2020 at 10:32 pm

I am neither in support nor in denial but ppl for ages have been living on soy n other veggie options, so those are healthy n sustainable.

    • Bearly Listening

      October 1, 2020 at 11:04 pm

@CompilingInput There are no vegan cultures anywhere in history. Some dairy or animal protein is necessary for long-term survival and reproduction. That’s why vegan YouTubers have been dropping like flies, despite having good intentions.

I’m tired of vegans telling me to stop eating meat. We are evolved as OMNIVOROUS animals. Eating animals actually serves a purpose in the environment. If you want us to stop eating other animals, I will gladly watch as someone starves themselves of essential vitamins and nutrients, and then hand them a steak just so that they can’t eat it.
Now the inhumane problems, I will stand with, but don’t force the vegan views on me.

Yeah, how about stop calling the other side “white supremacists” & looting & destroying the homes & businesses of the poor & working classes that you CLAIM to represent, politically, in order for your rich, “dear leaders” to snap up cheap real estate & knock out competition from smaller, local businesses so that your masters’ monopolies can continue to grow.

I will NOT be lectured by an entire group of rich, entitled, “useful idiots” who’ve been indoctrinated into imbecility & nihilistic narcissism by an increasingly socialist “education” system that’s done nothing but churn out domestic terrorists!

You idiots can’t even run your own lives & live in stench & filth-covered cities while you criticize those who live in rural paradises by comparison.

Is that was an idea worth spreading? Idea? TED became an ordinary information space – It is getting harder to find a decent information among the noise. Fatpositives, femterrorists and now these plantbrainers. OMG. Give me an IDEA. Decent idea. Propose our organism to function on batteries or solar energy or something at least kind of innovative, not force humankind to swallow another type of organic mass.

@Greg Morris Of course no. Good for the rest of the world, they are stupid enough to actually “name it”. You can google it yourself, they are doing it on screens, in interviews, tv shows, films, etc. they just want something in an angry manner they cannot even formulate.

Win-win? He had to let go his job to make her happy. He now do plant production (medical drug), win-win would be her helping him find way to keep his previous job while losing less chicks, having less chickens dying and rotting under the others, getting lot of disease. (probably hard to do while keeping 25k chicks)

She was the only one winning, as a vegan, preventing animal exploitation to fulfill her vegan ideology where only she is right, only vegan have the right to exist.

If you follow her ideology where only she is right, you won’t be able to eat meat anymore because she will make every producer lose their job for vegan to be happy. (because meat eaters are evil and should only eat plants and vegetables like a vegan)

Isn’t hemp as dogmaticly forbidden to grow and process as coca, poppy or ergot are?
So how You gonna solve THAT problem for them farmers?
The “unjust” system is capitalism in its today’s, seemingly arbitrary form.
Which isn’t so arbitrary when You shed more light on it, but turns out as a system corporate crooks and political sellouts installed to steal from communities and individuals (like Your chicken farmer).
I waited in vain for this “unjust system” be called capitalism though.
You failed miserably here, Ms Garcés !

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.
