Unless you actually listen to music on it and would enjoy the better sound quality.

@Fleck if you really care about music you would get actual speakers

If that feature is enabled by soli, does that mean it won’t work in markets where soli chip were not allowed?

      Seems like a reasonable conclusion.

Hearing all your conversations, knowing all your payments, interests and movements isn’t enough for Google. Now they want to watch you sleep at night. 🤣

I’m not trying to be a wet blanket by any means but considering what we’re fighting for politically as our rights, I don’t know if adding a smart speaker is really a good idea, I’m thinking of disconnecting mine permanently and considering getting a dumb phone. Right now they’re trying to push the whole covid virtual passport, we have to sign in everywhere we go as another threat of our guns trying to be taken away etc. At least for right now the less they know the better for now.

I am sure turning it off will really work…google has a way of not exactly telling the truth…..paying to watch or “sense” you sleeping?…. you got to be kidding me…..IMHO, it doesn’t matter whether it Apple, Google or any other devise……they will be watching and listening to you….

The reality is they’re just not that interested in what we do, unless there’s a financial incentive at stake. It’s all about how much money they can make off of us. It always has been and always will be. I feel your angst though.

Doesnt really seem like there was a major improvement. Especially if you have a sleep watch already. Plus they are trying to charge for it lol.

The bass doesnt matter to me since i already use an external speaker for my nest hub.

It’s unfair on how things have turned up to be due to the recent world pandemic things has been so difficult, This isn’t good in the sense that it ends up addicting the civilians financially in different angles of life. We see complains here and there on social media from different people in different parts all round the world

I am interested but I would need 3 one in the bedroom to use the sleep sensing feature, one in the kitchen to watch YouTube videos and one in the living room just because. I suppose I could take it around from room to room as long as it didn’t need to be set up again.

Audio quality comparisons over my smartphone (or computer) speakers…why do some people still do this?!

  21. Chinmay H

    March 30, 2021 at 10:14 pm

My first gen Nest HUB suddenly stopped working which could be due to a Over the air update, the device shows the google logo, plays the start up chime and then black screen. Display and speakers are working, there is no way to recover or restore. I contacted google support send them a video of whats happening, but as the device is outside warranty nothing can be done. I understand if the hardware fails after use, i will upgrade, but this is not my mistake. I am not sure if i will buy another one, and with that i might actually replace my nest door bell with something else too.

    But I don’t need one.

Paying Google to track your sleep is an answer to a problem I’m sure no one asked.

Didn’t impress me plus Google, has become to obtrusive, it’s just gotten plain creepy!

    • Ravi Teja KNTS

      March 31, 2021 at 11:50 am

still better than Apple though, they say you what they are tracking before getting cought red handed

  28. Zackary Allan

    March 31, 2021 at 4:21 am

Not enough to upgrade. Pretty boring of a upgrade if you ask me. I’ll upgrade when the bezels are gone and it is as smooth as a smartphone

  29. Edwin Ng

    March 31, 2021 at 4:50 am

Sleep sensing is irrelevant for me. I have no need for it. It’s a feature I can do without.

  30. Felix Five

Not worth the upgrade from gen 1 then.

  32. Ananya Gupta

    March 31, 2021 at 12:55 pm

They’re going to charge for sleep tracking? I guess I won’t be buying one of these. When did Google get so greedy?

Paid feature? Are they getting enough fresh air? Who would want sub par sleep tracking from a screen beside their bed?, to focus on this and not add a camera is insane too. Especially with FB Portal coming on the scene.
