The future economy won’t be built by people and factories, but by algorithms and artificial intelligence, says data scientist Mainak Mazumdar. But what happens when these algorithms get trained on biased data? Drawing on examples from Shanghai to New York City, Mazumdar shows how less-than-quality data leads to AI that makes wrong decisions and predictions — and reveals three infrastructural resets needed to make ethical AI possible.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). 🤔Do you not think you deserve to be helped?
🤔Do you feel you need to have all the answers and figure it out yourself?
🤔Do you trust yourself more than a professional to handle your Financials?

Were you the first child in your family that had to take care of everyone?

Our money trauma(s) cause us to self sabotage our future success.

I’m here to help ease that burden and help you carry the load of starting your business on solid financial ground for the long term.

I really do try to do my patriotic part to help train the silicon based lifeform that DARPA is creating to replace us carbon based lifeforms. However, observing the pathological lies that now replace due process in this lynch-mentality cancel culture, i have been concerned that DATA pertaining to me, my thoughts and activities, might be corrupted to such a level before it is uploaded for use, that it becomes useless or even reverse some of the progress already achieved. Consequently, to GUARANTEE that they received good uncorrupted data, and really know and understand without mistake, exactly what I think and where I really go and what I do, I make sure to immediately post everything i do DIRECTLY to one of the NSA’s largest and most reliable data collection sites. OF COURSE You know I’m talking about YOUTUBE! If everyone was as dedicated, we could bring that AI up to speed, years ahead of schedule and dramatically cut years of anxiety off of our waiting time on silicon valley’s death row!

Any AI is ONLY as good as the PROGRAMMERS who program it! 🤣

Good to remember The Problem of Knowledge in Society, raised by Hakye.
No amount of data discipline will be able to properly summarize the knowledge spread throughout society.
What we need first is to eliminate the means by which one/few group(s) mistaken models can affect everybody (as in the case of the Census).
    Decentralization is key.

There is no ‘undercounting’ the minorities. Generally, most folks just don’t answer the questionnaire, which is the usual issue. What a horrible example to use for making the obvious point that data integrity is the most critical aspect of any algorithm, AI or otherwise. The algorithms are important too.

Lololol the context of the question is so shallow! Is AI failing us?! No its perfectly becoming us, and us it. Enforced as it is, its literally the new evolutionary pressure on all mankind, based on old data and biases put into the systems by other less sophisticated people and technologies. Its organic totalitarianism growing from rampant materialism, socially and economically weeding out and destroying individual voices and attitudes which will not assimilate to the concept of “exponential technological advancement” for its own sake.
