Incredible to see maps evolve from static guides to living, dynamic systems that can shape decision-making in real time.

I think this was an amazing idea that did not get conveyed well. There is way more potential here than what was said.

Just, my thoughts. There could be so much improvement in such an important matter like fighting wildfires by the usage of data and automated response mechanisms. Why not?

maps became popular in the eighties with advances in computer printers … they came after road signs and even graffiti. Old maps were told, so they look weird. Screen maps are fun when you can move the origin of perspective like britanica used to have, now-days maps are locked to fool speculation.

Social entrepreneur Van Jones believes a new human civilization is being born in real time — and that our technology is racing ahead of our wisdom. In this urgent and hopeful talk, he reframes the AI debate, showing why the real danger isn’t the technology itself but rather the communities it leaves behind. His solution? A new deal between big tech and humanity, built on a different kind of “AI” that we desperately need. (Recorded at TED2026 on April 17, 2026)
