Apple Pulls ANOTHER Ad! Here’s Why Apple Ads Just Aren’t Cool Anymore | CNET | One More Thing
Apple has pulled four problematic videos since last year, and the latest one was a cringy presentation on how teens can convince parents to buy a Mac for college. CNET’s Bridget Carey sees a pattern in why recent ads are lacking the Apple cool factor. (You don’t need an 81-slide deck to convince your parents…

Apple giving computers to school to increase computer literacy… I see their brainwashing continues to work. Wow. GIVING computers to schools and making them think they got all this free stuff, yay…no…schools had to buy the outrageously priced software and add-ons, like short apple talk cables and the need to buy expensive adapters to make longer cables….Apple made a FORTUNE giving away computers, indoctrinated generations of kids and largely disabled said kids from understanding any other kind of computer than a mac. ALL THE WHILE trying to sue Microsoft for stealing their GUI idea which they themselves stole from Xerox. JEESH. Apple has NEVER been for the good of people and helping computer literacy. “As of June 27, 2025, Apple Inc. (AAPL) has a market capitalization of $3.00 trillion USD.” They created high schoolers who could only use macs when they went off to college forcing colleges to kowtow and then those graduates went into their careers only being able to use apple products. In my opinion, having worked in tech 40 years is that Apple is, has always been and will always be an EVIL company. Apple’s Think Different motto was a brain washing campaign to make people NOT think different, but rather to Pigeonhole themselves into Apple products only and to believe they made a good choice when it was the furthest thing from it. Not saying one should never have used Apple computers, nor avoid Apple computers, just don’t make it the only thing you know how to use! We have the same problem now with phones, iOS and Android. Next up, the AI battle for your brain. The next winner in tech is going to make Apple look like Tiddlywinks using pretty much the same tactics. Get them young, make them think they’re special, keep them locked in. Come to think of it, they must have gotten the idea from religion. Apple-only users are pretty much in a cult. Personally, I like to know how to use all OS’s well and disparage them all equally for not keeping up with hardware advancements, software has been seriously far behind…AI may change this too. I made my 1st Firefox extension last week and didn’t write a line of code.

It was kind of cute, but also kind of cringey. I am sad I missed the “Out of Office” ad. All of the other Apple at Work ads were gems! Can you still watch it on YouTube? It is weird that they don’t vet these ads better before releasing them into the wild!
@ChrisCarlos64
June 27, 2025 at 6:08 pm
The string of bad ads is quite a shocker from Apple, but they also had bad ads back in the day. The consistency of bad ads is the problem though. Lastly, that final video about “convincing your parents” is weird in this day and age. Majority of adults are Millennials and some of them even Gen Z. The college kids are raised by adults who used a computer, still use a computer probably at work, or at home, or to game on, etc.
This isn’t the 80s and 90s where most of our parents were computer illiterate, because such devices were still not mainstream. Most households would get 1 PC in the 90s at best, and it was shared among the family. These days, I’m willing to be at least every adult in the household has a PC of some sort. Laptop or desktop, and then there’s possibly a tablet or two for media consumption maybe, but the biggest being phones. In other words, everyone has a computer of some kind, and the ad working on explaining a computer to college age kids for 7 minutes makes no sense in this world we live in.

Apple seems more focused on superficial features—like expanding emoji sets and emphasizing identity politics—than on pushing real innovation on the Mac. When a company leans heavily into performative culture over substance, stagnation is the predictable result. The original spirit of “Think Different” has devolved into “Wait for others to innovate, then repackage it.”
Talented developers are walking away, because Apple simply isn’t where the exciting tech is happening anymore. Misstep after misstep is becoming harder to ignore. The recent Apple Intelligence rollout was particularly disappointing and it’s astonishing that a trillion-dollar company could fumble something so critical. It raises serious questions about who’s making decisions at the top. This kind of failure is what you’d expect from a startup still trying to find its footing, not an industry leader with an almost unlimited budget.
I’ve used Macs since the mid-1990s, and I still rely on one for certain workflows, but I can no longer recommend them in good faith. The “us vs. them” mindset has always seemed petty to me, but there’s no denying that Microsoft won the ecosystem war by embracing open collaboration. Apple, meanwhile, clung to its walled-garden philosophy—a model that may have worked in the early days, but now feels dated and restrictive.
If Apple wants to remain relevant among professionals, it must start investing seriously in CAD, engineering, and other power-user domains. Without that shift, the quiet exodus from the Mac ecosystem will only pick up speed.

Maybe Apple is just a bit stressed and out of touch because of unfortunate sudden change in priorities. Having to move to a new place after just having moved, then finding a place only to have it swept from under their feet. And after at last finding something, realizing all their stuff has to be put into storage for over two weeks and deciding what to do with themselves in the meantime while carefully budgeting and making sure their registration documents don’t get affected. Or maybe it’s just me. Perhaps a short vacation to see the fam and recallibrate.

Apple has been doing disastrous advertising and promotional communication for almost a decade now, since they completely feminized and liberal nut jobbed the brand. They have completely destroyed the Apple brand.
Can’t stand anymore of their videos with that punchy awful music, drives me crazy, always the same style. I used to watch their events many years ago, now I don’t even care. I used to like the brand a lot, about eight years ago and before. Now I can’t stand it.
Yes…, I use their products. I started back in the 90s, I used to love Apple, so I got pretty immerse in their ecosystem. Now, I use the bare minimum, always trying for new devices. I for sure don’t cheer for the brand, at all. I can’t wait for someone else to develop something to take me completely out of their eco-system.

OK now I understand what this is. It’s resentment for backing ghetto brands rather than companies that deliver, promise, and have a user expectation of, completion. Apple is a brand of completion, not quantity. Your dust tainted Toshiba 900 years years ago with a fingerprint tracker Sucked, period, it probably used about 08% of the security required than an actual fingerprint security protocol. Because no other brand other than Apple ensures 100% 100% of the time the PC argument no longer works lately. Your bitter arrogance and passive aggressive_— highly past due remarks have zero relevant anymore. Everyone knows Max are better. It’s a viable fact by comparison to application, which is what a product is. Products are not metal. They are not plastic. They are purpose full contextual functions of human behavior and life. Apple simply does that better than, well frankly, anything you ever say for the best for your life apparently

The PC argument no longer works lady. Your bitter arrogance and passive aggressive well-past due remarks have zero vibe anymore. Everyone knows Macs are better. It’s a verifiable fact by comparison to every other computer on the planet. Do you know why? Because a Mac isn’t the full product. It’s a big slice of pie.
Where you’ve become kinda stupid is not realizing even what Apple sells before talking about their ad-team
Or understanding what a product is for that matter. Products are not metal. They are not plastic. They are choices. Products simply allow us to experience things. Apple goes, “well, now you have the option to do that thing over here while doing this other thing you wanted to do”. Apple is Human (making you basically a broken printer). A guess what? Apple simply does marketing better, design, coding, actually almost everything related to machine operating, all-around. Have fun getting that cheap box that I know is not a promise of completion—but itll def guarantee downtime constantly updating windows and drivers, reimaging soon, confusion (let me junior when you can explain why people still look up the word “how to find downloads folder on windows”,

Do you know how hard you have to work to make “please don’t destroy” look lame? It is so sad to see what Apple has come to. It used to feel like they were genuinely trying to create something great, and Jobs had the vision to do it, and now it feels like they just want to rip every dollar out of you that they can. You used to get something for the higher price tag, now you basically just get whatever is left of Jobs’ vision, however long that manages to survive this state of the company.

If you need 81 slides to convince mom & dad to get you an Apple computer for school, you don’t need an Apple computer for school. Neither parent is going to set aside that much time anyway. Speaking to the old ads, well, I saw the original (and only) airing of the 1984 ad, I learned to program on an Apple II on a donated computer in a small town in upstate NY, I have had Apple products for somewhere close to 40 years! Apple is now conformity. They are the “big tech”, they’re not the hip, new thing. I’m over 60 freaking years old. Yes, there was a time when Windows was inferior, but not to go into the hundreds of business and technological reasons, it wasn’t always their fault. Trying to make an OS in the early days that would run on just about any machine that had a license with literally thousands of 3rd party apps, hardware, and interfaces made it nigh impossible to keep up. Apple had only one – Apple. There’s a reason they call it the Apple ecosphere. Try connecting your iPhone to your Windows machine and downloading pics. It’s a nightmare, but they just don’t care. And yes, I have a Windows desktop and iPhone/iPad. It’s a bloody nightmare.
But that said, my kids are in their mid twenties, and they all had Macs. Not because I wanted them to be cooler or better, but because our business was getting rid of them for their inability and refusal to integrate with other devices. All of them have to use a PC at work. Learning on a PC is better, not worse. One will likely be using one on the business world. Mac’s business department is atrocious, hard to work with, and frankly, useless. They need to stop smelling their own farts and look at the real world through a clear lens. Mac hit the mark by getting their products into the hands of early 80’s kids, but they forgot that those would become the business people of tomorrow, and never thought of that side of integration.

Here’s what they’re Ad should’ve been!
Title: It just works!
A student takes a photo of a presentation and airdrops it to their notes app. A windows laptop user looks over and says. How’s that work? Mac uses says. “It just works”.
Short. sweet. and get’s across the main benefit of Mac which is that they’re less buggy then windows.
They could release a collection of ads based around the same idea. Just like back in the day Apple had a collection of ads on Mac vs PC. It introduces 1 feature difference and spoon feeds the audience.

Apple has become what the 1984 add was all about. Maybe a bit more greedy.

3:15 I must say Windows PCs always stressed me and though Macs can fail it is a lot less common and most times is an easy and quick fix.

$1,000 for a laptop with a 13-in screen is wild.

Apple users can try to deny it but the Beachball of death is very real.

I love the detail that this video was the same length as the removed Apple ad! 🤯

2017/2018 apple holiday ad is so cringe. Apple Titanium ads are identical to the type of ads Apple made fun of microsoft/dell doing years ago. Its sad that all the critique towards non-apple machines are based off 20 year old jokes, not current day situations. Teens today dont know what a windows blue screen of death joke is, that how old it is.

Apple is the villain in their 1984 ad now.
