Say no to being dumbed down. Censorship is the first action of criminal governing. These psychopathic/sociopathic controllers didn’t like my first comment that didn’t violate any community guidelines.

2:27 The president of EA saying “hundreds of millions of transactions daily … you would think we’re more connected than we’ve ever been”

Sorry this chat is a bit bullshit, Online gaming is a fiasco, even sony admits it, its been a year we have really bad games, and people making videos on youtube of people playing more games are ultra boring lack of creativity, actually sad. These days you cannot even play with a mate on the same TV, Sony forces you to go online to play with a friend miles away buy an extra playstation and an other same version of the game. When is the money grabbing scheme end???
This chat comming from someone that works in industry is some form of green washing applied to video games. I’d expect a bit more objectivity from a TED talk.
I played video games for 35 years, not born yesterday. cut the crap.

Games has becamo social hubs nowdays, and right now the game award had 120 million views worldwide. Social media has transformed our lives. Think about it, hundreds of millions Interactions and transactions in daily. Based on that, you’d think we are more connected than we’ve ever been. But that’s not the fact, the fact was an antonym by that. And games are going to save us. Games connected people to eaxh others, even WHO who skepticism about gaming agree with that. In 2013 WHO survey with 130.000 respondent, and 55% said they play games to not feel alone or isolated.

i used to roll my eyes at book comments like this… but now i’m that person 💀 after seeing “Vibrations of Manifestation” by Alex Lane everywhere, i finally caved. ngl… it actually connected the dots on why my manifestations kept stalling. it’s different.

funny how life works… i swore i’d never buy a book just cause of a comment. but after seeing Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane mentioned for the 100th time, i gave in. and honestly? it’s the only thing that’s made energetic alignment make actual sense.

never thought i’d be repping a book in a youtube comment but here we are. vibrations of manifestation by alex lane kept popping up and i was so skeptical. but wow. the way it breaks down subconscious blocks? i feel like someone finally handed me the manual to reality.

I am sorry, but I hate most of the social gaming these days. I will stick to single player games in the indie and retro side. What I enjoyed the most when it comes to multiplayer was local play, and this is a rarity these days

  17. @InstaBayne

    May 5, 2025 at 5:36 pm

She works for EA but they don’t make games, they make slot machines and reverse ATMs for consoles.

  18. @VladiArdd

    May 5, 2025 at 6:14 pm

While I absolutely love games and think it’s a flourishing and valid art form, I think it is more important to ask ourselves, “What is making so many young people feel so isolated and lonely that they have to turn to online communities for connections?” rather than the areas in which they live.

  22. @jdalencar

    May 5, 2025 at 8:52 pm

TED, I’m disappointed. You had the president of Duolingo presenting about “making learning addictive”, and now the president of EA, a huge gaming company, talking about “the power of gaming”. Any video game is a simulation of what could happen in real life. The benefits of a community while gaming happens in any team activity, be it skating together, playing tennis, cards, running together. I’d like Laura Miele to talk about how her company views and responds to rising gaming addiction, which actually leads to loneliness. How about a TED Talk like this: “How to improve your relationships, instead of just replacing them with virtual ones”.

    • @EmbersToWings

      May 5, 2025 at 10:56 pm

      Exactly.

And theres such irony in a main person behind EA doing this Ted talk.

The greed of AAA focuses on profits and making the games addictive. It isn’t entirely about making people connect.

  26. @Colorcrayons

    May 5, 2025 at 9:40 pm

Sorry, but the stain that EA has placed upon humanity with psychologically predatory marketing to even kids, is gonna invalidate what she says before she even opens her mouth.
However, I watched it, and remain unimpressed. I will not be sharing this tripe with others, and regret the time I gave to her.
Which brings me to you, TED.
I believe TED needs to be more proactive in who they allow to air their rather foul thinly veiled marketing to. Do better. You are losing respect by giving it to EA by proxy.
EA have proven to be a blight upon society. To give them any free promotion is an error of a rather large magnitude, akin to allowing Trump to speak his screed of lies and gaslight.
Other people can make the argument for gaming. Her input was not needed, asked for, or wanted.

I think can make games like social media. But in way that a human can account that has visual homes in it. But like real life and government rules kingdoms so on.

  28. @piotrekk7045

    May 5, 2025 at 11:14 pm

EA is responsible for killing many well-loved games with predatory micro transactions. They don’t care about the gamers or even games. They care about their profits.

When physician-scientist David Fajgenbaum was dying from a rare disease and social entrepreneur Kiah Williams was confronting the realities of economic hardship, they began asking a different question: What can I do today? In this conversation, they discuss how turning hope into action can drive meaningful change — one step at a time. The TED Idea Search wraps up in Amman, Jordan, in a 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheater and in front of a crowd of 4,000. What unfolds inside those stone walls is something the series hasn’t quite seen before: speakers shaped by the weight of living in a region the world tends to define for itself. From a mountaineer who turned grief into motivation to a therapist rewriting the Arab world’s language around mental health, the final city makes the strongest case yet that the best ideas can come from anywhere.

Watch the full talks from the TEDxAmman Idea Search:

The most interesting ideas often come from the most unexpected places. We searched the globe for ideas with the power to inspire, motivate and change lives — and we found them at @TEDx events around the world. The TED Idea Search follows extraordinary speakers from 9 countries competing for a spot on the TED main stage in Vancouver this April.
