BILL needs to visit the Mall of America.

@sherri moquin The largest mall in the United States, and the first Mall of America is located in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Southdale Shopping Center, located in Edina, Minnesota, was the first totally enclosed shopping center in the nation, opened its doors in 1956, its design was revolutionary.

@innerlocus  I didn’t know that and wanted to say that there’s big mall in NJ and it’s called American dream mall

@sherri moquin FYI: In addition to a variety or retailers, Southdale also included a skating rink, an enormous two story bird cage, a water fountain, and a post office.

@innerlocus  that sounds really cool and when did they have that

Great idea for those who needs it. I am not OCD; however, as a dad who take the responsibility of washing down everyone’s shoes once a year thoroughly which takes a few days for me to get them all done right including my own. One day it clicked on me that if I just give the sole a 30sec. quick brush/ rinse with warm water every time I take off my shoe (garage entrance goes dirt into the laundry room and the shoe rack) and use the damp microfiber to wipe the top off after drying the sole I would not need to do it yearly and the shoes will be a lot cleaner! I been doing so for few years now and my 40+ pairs of shoes from top to bottom are still as good as new… no robots are harmed during the process😉

      Once a year? gross.

    • Aqua

      November 3, 2022 at 5:40 pm

@asakuras01 you can just sanatize it daily. Cleaning them daily is impossible.

    • Davethreshold

      November 3, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Respectfully, if you want to be a good Dad, tell them all to do their own. That teaches them to take care of stuff.

@Davethreshold yes, and they are learning slowly… I can’t expect everyone just agree and do what I wish whenever I want in life. An opportunity for me to learn to be patient just as well.

It’s good to see Nike is moving towards sustainability. Perhaps they will also have a feature where you can bring your old shoes for recycling towards ‘new’ shoes?

    • Arash

      November 3, 2022 at 8:20 pm

sustainability? How is this sustainability? Seriously.

    • Shubham Shah

      November 3, 2022 at 10:56 pm

@Arash They are refurbishing your old shoes so you don’t feel the need to buy new ones, and its all done for free to the customer.

Does also deorderize give it that new shoe smell ? No shade to the effort but my 4-year-old does better with a toothbrush on his own shoes. Those soles are still dirty

  13. Joe - Software Engineer

    November 3, 2022 at 4:08 pm

I think that’s way too much overkill for what it does. I just stick my dirty sneakers in the washer and then let them air dry.

  14. Benevolent Mountains

    November 3, 2022 at 4:34 pm

Just green washing or genuine innovation? Few months back a fast fashion brand showed how to convert old sweaters into new material using tech. Good use case for robotics maintenance though.

Respectfully, I’m a Saucony guy. I have one pair for every day, one pair for in the house only, and one pair for special occasions that look STUNNING. They are called “Future Blue.” I keep those in the box. LOL! I very rarely have to clean any of them.

  21. Davethreshold

    November 3, 2022 at 10:01 pm

BTW, HUGE respect for Nike on their sustainability goals! If you throw an old pair of those in the dumpster, I bet they would take 100 years to disintegrate!❤

    • Nicholas Alves

  25. BobPagani

    November 4, 2022 at 9:38 am

How much did this project cost? Whatever it was, it was an insane amount of money to spend to “fix” a “problem” that isn’t really much of a problem. Where’s the automatic lace tying machine? Does that take 45 minutes to do its job too?

  26. Daniel G

    November 4, 2022 at 12:49 pm

This is just virtue signaling for Nike…shoe companies can make the white not stain if they want and make the shoes last much longer with better material but they don’t, it’s plan obsolescence!

  27. Majid🇩🇪

    November 5, 2022 at 8:29 am

    50 minutes to clean up a shoe = more Energy = more $$$ 🤷
