I can say this is good advice, but I was in schools that basically taught us this way and what ended up happening was no one wanted to work with each other. Everyone wanted to be a leader and the only time someone followed was when they failed but all they wanted to do was be the leader again so nothing ever really got done. We don’t teach people how to lead and follow. We see following as weak and as a failure. So yes, let’s teach problem solving. Let’s teach these core skills, but how do we then make it okay for someone to go into society and work under someone when the mindset has always been? You can only do things for yourself

Then they didn’t teach good leadership skills. Leadership isn’t about JUST leading and not listening to anybody else. Leadership is about inspiring others, guiding others and also realising that you are never done learning and being taught yourself.

@DM I guess you’d first have to point me to where I said “success” made you happy?
Though there is a case that success adds to happiness, it can also add pressure to maintain that success.
The whole point of giving children the tools to be or rather, to think entrepreneurially, is to increase creativity and out of the box thinking and individuality.
Many entrepreneurs have a drive to improve and also a purpose. Having a purpose has been shown to improve self worth, focus and yes, happiness.

@Ian D maybe yes, but the reason why parents usually can do such things it to grow child as a successful child, because they wanted to be successful by themselves. Maybe child as an adult will be happy to work 3 days a week and live life for himself, maybe he want to do his hobby, that it is not popular and not profitable, while parents demand has another view of success. (I don’t mean that hobbies can be successful, but the reason why person do them is not profit, while parents will wait it from you. Moreover, they will try to impose an opinion on what they think is success)
Because the words “Do you want your child to be successful?”, I think will work on such people, because normal parents will give creativity, interest in things like music, dancing, painting, science not for success, they will give it to help child see the world and find himself by providing varied childhood, and not waiting that he will want what you want

I would think the first thing to consider would be not injecting them with things that fail to perform as described which are loaded with neurotoxins. Next keep them away from municipal or unpurified water. Feed them only organic natural foods. Last but not least home school them with plenty of life experiences mixed in and do not promote college as it will degrade all previous efforts.

Let’s say you were a parent. Now let’s say you want your kids to be happy. What do you do to help them; to make that more likely? I’d say you teach them to be self-reliant, resilient, and entrepreneurial. You might be right that letting them play like kids might lead to that, but there are OTHER things that parents and teachers can do to guide kids in their development. A totally hands-off approach is extreme.

I would say that letting kids think and play like kids is basically doing what this speaker is saying to do.
Just be ready to answer the kid’s questions and when they come home covered in mud, don’t get mad, but walk them through their thinking process to help you understand and potentially guide them to better future outcomes.

Give me a time period where people allowed kids just to be kids. Kids are groomed one way or another, and you want kids to have a sandbox environment to succeed and fail. By giving them problem solving activities in a more controlled environment will help them make decisions in the future. It basically is letting a kid be a kid
