Absolutely loved this TED Talk! Ikey Ajavon really nails the difference between sleep and true rest. It’s such an eye-opener to think about how we spend our downtime. Can’t wait to share this with friends!

I dislike the current theme of surrounding yourself with positive people. No one who is authentic is positive all the time. A true friend stays with you when you are positive, and in the down times too.

I don’t think he meant that exactly, though. I think he meant those who truly drain you because of their constant negativity.

While the ideas presented here are very noble, I doubt that a typical person who has a regular Job would have enough time for each of those
8 hr sleep
9 hr work
2 hr commute
2 hr eating breakfast/lunch/dinner
You are left with around 3 hours to yourself, which are not a lot do anything but either go to gym/ catch up with friends (assuming you guys are free at the same time) or doom scroll
Btw I haven’t included events like you have to do your own laundry, get your groceries and other things normal humans do to sustain themselves.
Obviously the nature of your job has a huge part in all this which can help doing more of the types of relaxation, but normal corporate jobs are not over even after you have logged out, your phone can ring anytime if there is an issue coz as you go up the ladder you have to be always available 🥹🫥. In that case even sensory isolation/relaxation is a luxury, rest are just a myth at this point.
