It’s really icky how he keeps anthromorphizing the machine. Yes, these systems shouldn’t replace jobs, but they also aren’t coworkers. We use these systems. There is no intelligence in there and we should stop talking about algorithms this way.

So true. It’s actually dangerous, because it makes it look like no human being is responsible for their results, while the opposite is the case. Even with ANNs.

They need to be managed properly.
Capitalism worked really well in the 1940s and AI has many positive impacts on our future, like, learning from each, good management skills in the company and more.. Honestly, ethics play a major role in both.

I like clean water, and want to pay as little as possible for it. Would an AI-human controlled water treatment plant be better or worse than a human only controlled water treatment plant? If a power outage, would a human only or AI only be better? If both?

Interesting, for about a minute. AI is a basic two way relationship – I want to see how many humans can be eradicated I want to reduce staff and reduce salary- I want to increase profit. Buckshot that humans will ever work alongside Ai

    • Friendly One

      May 22, 2022 at 2:27 pm

If you are an employer, you are making poor use of the humans working for you.
If you are an employee, get a new job with a less toxic employer.
If you are independently wealthy, and have no experience maximizing human capitol, take a chance. Pretend you are bottom rung, Get a job in a fast food kitchen, or “scrub labor” for a landscaping firm, or janitorial firm, or cleaning stalls, or in a meat plant…. Don’t ask “Why can’t this pay more?” ask “How can this be more economically effective so it can pay more?” The later question leads ordinary people into business ownership and creating new wealth; the former, into lifelong dependency on someone else and is encouraged by big corporations and government alike and is part of your existing world view. It is why you cannot understand Shervin’s message.

  8. The American American

Capitalism + AI = global authoritarian dictatorship with the ultra-rich/0.1% ruling as gods over the rest of us

Socialism + AI = near utopian global society where greed is almost eradicated to the point where resources are managed, produced, and distributed fairly and efficiently to all.

The death of capitalism and profits will lead us humans to the next stage of civilization where we finally live in balance with our home planet and begin venturing out into space not to conquer and destroy, but to explore and learn.

I wonder if AI predict people will hamster toilet paper of their first need. AI is smart but do we have a strong enough AI that could filter or take in account contradicting choices: I do not want to eat chips to day but I do want to eat it 1 hour later…

AI is to mental or intellectual work as power tools are to physical labor.
Watch any YouTube channel produced by people in love with creative machining, who build things in a month that would have taken a skilled team to build in years, who today rely on AI to help them manage those big metal working machines and you see how in the physical world power tools have made our world richer and increased — not decreased — employment options.
Many naysaying comments in this section use word processing programs that are more than spell check, they are true AI applied to writing — example, catch plural/singular subject verb mismatches and ask “do you want this or is it a mistake?” — and rely on those algorithms to improve the quantity and quality of their written output.
AI is a smart tool. Just like a contractor can buy a nail gun, thinking “One man can now nail as many boards together in a hour as ten could before, therefor I can fire 9 carpenters.” another contractor will think “I don’t need to waste skilled talent just pounding nails. What else can they do with their time that will my MY work stand out from the crowd?”
    AI use is the same.
Judging from the 20 comments already posted when I typed this, I can see why 90% make poor use of AI. 90% of the comments, from ted watchers!, are of the “fire the extra carpenters” mentality and assume most think like themselves, and simply did not get Shervin’s point: It’s not about replacement, it’s about enhancement. It is about “What can I do that I only dreamed of doing before?”

Are you ready for Heaven? Have you ever lied, stolen used God’s name as a curse word (O-M-G)? According to God’s law, you’re guilty. But wait, God loves you, he made a way out. God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Please think about it. Repent/believe before the rapture, before the one world government. Jesus died for you, live for him. Love U
