Why I miss my phone from 2009

After finding my last “dumb” phone from 12 years ago, I instantly missed all the simple “features” from a bygone era: T9 word, ringback tones and a plastic design that could double as a bottle opener.

I’m more impressed that you found a working 13 pin charger and port than I’m that you found your LG Chocolate.

Rather than e-cycle or store old them in a box, I’ve tossed the batteries and let my kids play with them as toys. This is the fate of my Nokia 6085 and BlackBerry Pearl 8220 flip phones.

” I can´t use it because the carrier moves on to new technology ” Menwhile in Germany, I got a 4g LTE plan just last year and could still use my first phone, a nokia 6300 from 2006.

The reason of that is that for more than 18 years in Europe uses GSM Technology. In USA CDMA was a big option. CDMA, GSM are the technology that phone provider use in there networks.

Moto Krazr had a perfect slim profile, slightly heaftier for more health points, and a nice solid flip hinge. Plus, the mirrored front was sleek and clean. Still have it, and wish I could just use that sucker today.

I had a Sony-Ericsson W580i with built-in Walkman FM radio! It was pink, had “jewels,” and 2 mpx camera. Loved it! Slider type. I could assign songs to my contacts (which I still do). In the days before wi-fi everywhere, it did everything I needed. I could also pair it by Bluetooth to dial contacts stored in my Palm Zire 72. Woo hoo!

The pictures are not that bad actually, the video sucked, but in a world of viewing on cell phones they are serviceable.
