You are getting it wrong, 85% of WhatsApp users are in Africa and India, most of these users do not care about privacy, they care more about the features, wait until WhatsApp money transfer is accessible in all countries.

I deleted WhatsApp last week! Signal is way better, especially the desktop app that unlike WhatsApp, it allows you to call or video call anyone. Signal’s encryption is the best, and it has such good reputation, that WhatsApp itself uses Signal’s encryption protocol. FB Messenger “secret messages” also use Signal’s protocol as well, and Google Messages beta also added signal’s encryption protocol last month. Signal’s the way to go.

So ” privacy ” is invaded and you are sold to whomever facebook wishes for a profit you dont share in . As Zuboff has pointed out there are as many as 30 companies who maybe in this metadata privity of contract daisy chain . This makes it incredibly hard to assert your 4th 9th and 10th amendment privacy rights or those under the International Declaration of Human Rights because finding the offender in that chain where your data has been misused maybe the first middle or last end user . Significantly also facebook has done the pontius pilate shield disclaimer that they are NOT responsible for the discomfort that results from their putting you in a glass house. If privity of contract is to mean anything for your rights there will have to be some challenges to this metadata extraction theft on a respondeat superior basis. Since there are intimate ties to present and former members of congress and the executive and judiciary I am not that confident changes will happen in the near term until the floodgates of complaints about data privacy extraction reaches a deluge because these people have been compensated for looking the other way with stock and board membership participation compensations. This goes far beyond facebook but because theyve owned or controlled 4 or 5 of these messaging services they get top billing.

Signal doesn’t even store the phone number on their servers. They create a hast from that phone number that cannot be turned back into the phone number. Signal does not store any of your data or meta data at all on their servers

Yeah Telegram is pretty close to WhatApp when it comes to privacy. Donโt use it just go for Signal. Telegram collects lost of data just like WhatsApp. Telegram holds the encryption keys so they can unencrypt your messages, Signal doesnโt. Encryption in Telegram is not on by default.

Inaccurate information about Telegram here. You can actually use Telegram without sharing you mobile number – something Signal can’t do right now.
Also Telegram’s encryption and information sharing is top notch.
