Look, I see the point mister Anderson is making here, but I think just about any other example would have been more powerful.

You will not convince me that the old man spends what little free time he has watching wholesome Youtube videos that are presumably aimed at entertaining. He could have convinced me by making it more personal.
And since he does not consume the media he refers to the message loses part of its meaning to me.
And to further undermine the video I left a dislike!

    • @markmc5112

      January 10, 2024 at 5:03 pm

He clearly doesn’t know anything about MR beast, probably only looked at his thumbnails and sub count

  3. @potapotapotapotapotapota

    January 10, 2024 at 5:00 pm

Just keep in mind, doing nice things for others expecting things in return for your kindness is not amazing, that’s manipulation. That being said, Mr Beast is different. He’s just gaming the system to change people’s lives and having fun along the way. You’ll know you’re being truly generous when you give a gift and you get nothing out of it and it doesn’t make you resentful at all. For when you have unmet expectations this will inevitably lead to bitterness, resentment and anger towards the very thing you claim to be showing love to.

      January 10, 2024 at 5:08 pm

Mrbeast is worth 100 million. Stop with this idolization.

  4. @markmc5112

    January 10, 2024 at 5:02 pm

Come on guys MR beast pedals scams, uses bots to drive traffic, and only helps people if the camera is filming.

    • @Exp3L

      January 10, 2024 at 5:13 pm

Yea even so it doesn’t change the fact he still helping millions of people, he does change the world for the better, so what did you do that you think that you are better than him?

    • @markmc5112

      January 10, 2024 at 6:37 pm

@Exp3L  Nah he’s just manipulating people into watching his vids to make more money. It’s more like a lottery then actually giving out the kindess of his heart . Plus, he is worth like £100 mil and growing, Real people who give go unoticed and should be praised more.

    Oh cool mr.beast propaganda

    • @cariboulou3572

      January 10, 2024 at 5:52 pm

Jesus you know youve reached the point of no return when you think a philanthropy influencer has or even needs propaganda. Get serious, grow up and join the adult conversations. Find something less trivial to not have an opinion about

  6. @HawkOfLight1

    January 10, 2024 at 5:03 pm

Mr.Beast can teach us the profitability of philanthropic videos pending on your popularity. He’s not teaching generosity, he’s not solving problems. He’s making money on videos that go viral. When Mr.Beast gives a random person a car, Vicariously the audience thinks they will be that person someday. They won’t, and the conditions of their lives will continue to erode as Mr.Beast’s philanthropy ends when the return on the investment isn’t sufficient.

    • @AL-lh2ht

      January 10, 2024 at 5:10 pm

Like this is the issue. You think mrbeast with go back to promoting trees planting or advocate of better laws? It’s just viral videos stunts.

    • @albecharlie497

      January 10, 2024 at 8:13 pm

100% agree. He teaches passivity, income inequality and lack of medical treatments do not need to exist in the first place, we don’t need billionaires to be philanthropic if we have a system that works

    • @carsonhunt4642

      January 15, 2024 at 4:39 am

Tbf, it’s neat that he’s rich for basically giving back. Better than being rich simply due to being a celebrity. Other YouTuber’s have mansions and multiple properties and don’t ever give a cent back to their audience, or even look at the top replies.

But yea the plant trees one was dumb tho. Just milking the viral climate stuff in that one. The earth is more green than ever before due to all the extra co2, it’s why our wildfires have become so bad as well. We do not need more trees in the wild. Maybe go plant them for logging operations to harvest decade down the road.

feels like a short sighted take. I grew up in Nigeria where it was common for the richest people to drive around in cars throwing out money whilst being chased.

I find a lot of the negativity strange, and frankly off-putting. Here we have a young person, who can make a ridiculous amount of money, but he gives away millions of dollars to people around the world, utilizing mostly local institutions and giving them the tools to better help their own communities. That’s exactly the kind of philanthropy that seems to work well, and most of those videos where he helps other people like that actually don’t make him money.

Being a philanthropist isn’t free, and the money he makes finding ways to give people Lamborghinis, is used for other videos where he digs wells for communities with poor access to clean drinking water, and builds, schools and gives away shoes. He gives away tens of thousands of free meals to needy people in his community. You can hear stories from people in the communities in places he helps, and they are grateful that someone cares.

I think the point this guy is trying to make is that is entirely possible to utilize your clout to help other people. The man famously lives a fairly modest life himself compared to the stuff he gives away. And I believe he has around 250 employees. The fact that the most popular YouTuber out there is someone who isn’t a billionaire because he gives so much of it away IS A GOOD THING.

Maybe instead of saying that a true hero would be someone who would do it without thanks is misguided. Maybe a true hero is someone who does as much as they can, and the man has realized that you can make money WHILE helping people. That generosity doesn’t need to be just a gift, but can be a business because you show people that generosity, and clearly it’s something people WANT to see.

The most famous person on YouTube is a 25-year-old that is known for giving away money and sports cars, rather than hoarding them and showing them off. That’s the role model for wealth and success he is setting for the next generation. I remember an old video where he said that no matter how much money he makes, he intends to die broke. I remember a video where he says he much prefers the videos where he gives people I remember a video where he says he much prefers the videos where he gives away things to people in need, to his other videos. I hope he maintains that attitude.

Perhaps I’m naive, but that seems like a good thing for the world to have. Maybe instead of just quiet generosity, the world can also have this louder generosity. The loudness helps it spread.

The amount of people with personal depression Is at an all time high.
We can blame fake news, internet and diversion for that all we want. And I am not sure we are wrong.
However there are the saying “ignorance is a bliss”.
I would like to think the rise in depression also comes from people getting more informed and less ignorant.
“It will get worse before it gets better” is another saying. And I like to think that is where we are now. How bad it has to get I prefer not to guess.
But I have hope. The internet is not just bad or just good. My hope is that more people will be awake and critical. Putting more effort into gaining knowledge and insight, and leave behind prejudices and assumptions.
When the next generation grows up and realize what world they have inherited I think that time will come.
As it is now I don’t think there is much hope for our generation for anything better, than blame for generations to come.

The issue is that with philanthropy the rich buy good favor.

Humans love stories, not statistics. So we praise them when one billionaire gives their equivalent of a coffee budget of a median working adults income.

The problems philanthropy minimally helps are systematic problems that require a political solution, not breadcrumb handouts from people who should pay their part back into society to begin with.

    • @arcticwulf5796

      January 14, 2024 at 2:58 am

Also philanthropy is a system where ‘good’ multi millionaires and billionaires will be putting them at loss and people who don’t care about others won’t ‘lose’ money.

So as a system the ones that are generous get worse outcomes and lose money, so are less competitive. So the incentive is to not be generous and support laws and systems that make sure the money keeps piling up and not distributed to the things that would be solved with good policies.

Yeah just be quiet, happy and courageous when you are shafted by the system. Don’t be angry, don’t be afraid and learn to extend your hands like a beggar for one day you just might be blessed with an influencer to film you 😂 taking his money for he needs more views gaming said corrupt and dysfunctional systems 🙃

Mr beast cant teach us a damn thing. Hes making a killing off his “generosity”. Itll be generosity when he stops filming and benefiting from his good deeds

  27. @iggyfritz7150

    January 14, 2024 at 6:04 am

    I find it interesting that
    People that attack
    Mr Beast with negative
Accusations are the same people who have been raped financially
And morally by our own government. We are talking about officials
Who came into their positions earning thousands and suddenly become billionaires. But that’s not anything to worry about. I guess it’s easier to bash someone
Who actually helps people. Here’s a fact to ponder. There are approximately 350 million people in America. Congress
Gives trillions of taxpayers money to other Countries.
If you understand simple math welcome to America genius 😂
