A disco tunnel that is so cramped that you can’t get out of the car in case of a fire. Great idea, Elon! 👌

Except that the tunnels are 12.5 feet diameter giving plenty of room to open the doors on the 6 foot wide vehicles.

The Boring Co’s Vegas Loop might be the best hope for getting people out of their private cars and into public transit as the Loop solves most of the problems and issues people have with traditional trains and buses.

Time use: With waiting times of less than 10 seconds and point-to-point underground high speed travel direct to the front doors of most important destinations in Vegas, it will be far faster to use the Loop than drive a car, ride a bus or take a taxi through city streets and traffic gridlock. Even trains only average 17-22mph due to having to stop at every station on the line not to mention the average frequency between trains is 10 minutes in the USA compared to 6 seconds between Loop EVs.

Reliability: with 9 north-south tunnels and 10 east-west tunnels, even if a single tunnel was blocked for maintenance or had higher amounts of traffic, there would be many other routes that Loop vehicles could use to get to their destination. In addition, weather events, roadworks, etc just wouldn’t affect the underground tunnels

Freedom: with Loop stations only costing $1.5M each and tunnels only $20M per mile, it is possible to have far more stations and tunnels across town and out into the suburbs making it far more likely that a Loop station will be at or close to your departure point or destination than you see with trains. And with Loop EVs sitting waiting at stations for passengers and going straight to their destination without having to stop at every station on the line or interchange to other lines or routes to get where you need to go, no more are you at the mercy of a schedule or rigid route.

Comfort: rather than having to stand crammed like sardines in a peak hour train, the Loops allows you to be seated in comfort just like a private car and even have the whole vehicle to your family, friends and/or colleagues.

Understanding: no complex schedules or route planning needed. Just jump in a Loop EV and tell it where to go.

Cost: Instead of taxpayers paying $20 billion to actually build a train, the 65 mile, 69 station is being built at zero cost to taxpayers.

If the 65 mile city-wide Vegas Loop works as well as the exisiting Las Vegas Convention Center Loop, it has the potential to be a massive positive disruptor for the entire public transit industry globally.
