Activist and author Gloria Steinem is an icon of the global feminist movement. She’s spent her life defying stereotypes, breaking social barriers and fighting for equality. In conversation with TEDWomen curator Pat Mitchell, Steinem reflects on the revolutionary roots of the feminist movement, the fundamental need for intersectionality to combat prejudice, and how she overcame her fears with the support of friends. Now she urges future generations of women to advocate for each other in solidarity — and discover the freedom found in companionship and community.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Yes, the title is addressed to the future generations of women, but it only says we are the roots of change- not the whole tree, and I think you guys are looking past that. Yes, it’s true that we are definitely helping the change, but we can’t do it without the help of _everyone,_ _all_ genders, _all_ races… we’re not feminists, we’re leaders, and _together_ we’ll lead everyone to building a better world for tomorrow.

    To the nay-sayers, to the ones resentful of Steinham’s rightful acclaim, to the ones who really believe that we should go back to the days when women weren’t even allowed to get a credit card in their own name, or buy a house without some man as a co-signer…just remember that we’re ALL raised up when the rights of the oppressed are recognized. (Yeah, my name is Karen, but I’ve had that name for 70 years. I’d feel the same even if my name were Melania.)

    There’s an incredible amount of low-vibrational & simple minded comments in this section.
    Let’s get this straight, when we are talking about the importance of one thing does not mean we are ignoring everything else or that the other thing(s) aren’t as important, etc. It means at this time, this conversation this is what we are talking about & addressing.
    Now, a few things; don’t deny facts, chill & stop with this, “what about me?!” for just a damn moment.

    Only the weak need empowerment and guess what ladies… you seem to be the prime target and the primary consumers of these pandering ego-masseuses.

    Here’s one of Gloria’s fan letters from a woman that I didn’t make up and invent completely in an attempt to insult people I feel are motivated by greed, laziness and insecurity, who try to make themselves feel better at the expense of others, while ruining relationships and convincing women to act against their own best interest and that of their families;

    “Help me, I’m weak and need someone to tell me I’m strong so I can be overbearing, rude and use an inappropriate volume indoors in an attempt to make people think I’m smarter than I really am! Please! I need to get that promotion at work that I’m going to get anyway because I have a vagina and not because I work harder than anyone else (because I don’t) or because I know the job better (I definitely don’t.. I don’t really even know what I do here)! Also, can you teach me how to emasculate men? That’ll make me feel strong and powerful for sure! Hello six-figure income for keeping a chair warm for 4 hours and doing my make up and playing on my phone in the bathroom for another 4 hours!”

    If you think it’s hard to leave a relationship, but you are experiencing any sign of infidelity you need to say to yourself, “I can do better,” and just leave.  I had no choice but to contact a professional tech guy who I got introduced to by my friend, he helped me hack my partners phone and I found out he was cheating , I even got to see his deleted messages, pictures and videos. I had no choice but to confront him and leave the relationship Because it became too toxic for me. I know someday I would find the right man for me. Incase you need the same service from the professional tech guy , you can contact him through Gmail : cyberhackanswers @ gmail. com or Text/WhatsApp: ‪+1 626 578 5544, or send him a dm on instagram @blonde_hacker_ infidelity hurts.
    stating what you want him to do, he’s affordable. No one deserves to be cheated on. i confronted him . At first it hurt so much, but then suddenly, I felt free and good. Trust me, it’ll feel a lot better once you accept that the relationship is over.

    8:47 Even tough I think that the slogan “follow the fear and do it anyway” has a very good meaning. It is slapping itself logically. For example: my fear is that I will die. So, by that slogan I need to commit suicide.

    • תבל קופלר

      December 5, 2020 at 11:44 am

      So the solution is to write: “follow your fear and do it anyway. When it doesn’t hurt you physically, mentally and when it helps you and other people. While this statement can be broke if other existing thing’s/things value is higher then yours, and by that it will reduce the number of potentiall casualties. And just then, if needed, you will have to hurt you for them.”

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.

Hundreds of millions of migrant workers travel within their countries to seek out means of survival — often leaving behind all they know for months or even years. Many face poverty and exploitation, and they need a robust social safety net to protect them, says migrant advocate and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Ashif Shaikh. He shares how his grassroots organization Migrants Resilience Collaborative is making life-changing benefits like social security and health care accessible to those who need them while also amplifying migrant voices — paving the way towards a world that supports the workers actually building it. (This ambitious idea is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.)
