Yes, one of the problems lies with the media. You quickly refer us to the Michael Brown incident. Mike Brown punched the officer in the face and tried to steal the gun from that officer. All evidence from that incident shows the actions of the officer were justified, and he was never charged for it. Remember now… The Mike Brown incident played a major roll in advancing BLM, but it’s all built on lies and false accusations that the media allowed to spread, and you’re still allowing it to spread because you keep leaving out critical facts. CNET, you are a propaganda machine.

We still have problems because of IMPUNITY and unjust protection given to police when misconduct occurs, making it so officers believe and act as if they are above the law.
When society as a whole finally puts them in their place and make every single one of them personally pay for their misconduct and abuse of power, is the day this BS will stop.

I don’t think body cam footage should be made public, they should be treated as restricted evidence for use by the legal system and rarely if ever made publicly available. What good does releasing footage to the court of public opinion do aside from enflaming animosity towards police or minorities? If you don’t trust that footage to be used to have true justice done by a judge or jury later, then there are greater institutional problems with the justice system that body cams aren’t going to fix anyways. It really seems like a lot of people want body cams on police half out of morbid curiosity or an obsession with instances of police violence and they just want more snuff film content on their Twitter feed to get them riled up every month. What good does that do?

WORTH THE READ STICK WITH ME AND CONCENTRATE
Make sure you get google photos it’s free unlimited photo and video storage never turn on low power mode (that will stop the background update process) and never swipe up on google photos and keep google photos running in the background at All times.
The reason is if your phone is ruined or in a place you cannot get your phone (for example your phone gets impounded by the police) you should have a backup of all of your photos and videos if your phone is being taken from you and you have a iPhone 8 or newer. Press and hold the power and any volume button until the slider pops up and cancel. If you have a iPhone 7 or older press the power button until the slider pops up and click cancel.
This stops Touch ID and Face ID until you unlock your phone again so the cops/anyone can’t use your finger or hold your phone up to your face and unlock it and delete the video or photo evidence. Always try to keep your phone tho but keep this as a backup. Your passcode is protected under the 5th amendment. However your finger and face don’t have the same protection.
^ This is something I say to promote google photos on videos that I think this info would be useful in. Also it does not hurt to backup to a flash drive or put it on a computer or iPad or friends phone. This message was just incase you get the police or anyone being bad on camera.
Also don’t go into find my iPhone and put your phone on lost mode if you know you did the trick to lock your phone with no Touch ID or Face ID. This will put your phone into low power mode and not backup your photos and videos of the person misbehaving. Also don’t turn on low data mode as that will also stop the backup. Also turn off control center from lock screen so they can’t turn on airplane mode. And if you can use E sim so they can’t take out your SIM card. Also screenshot your find my iPhone location often.

There is a obvious partial solution to the larger issue or problem. Federal law needs to require all enforcement officers in all branches of local, county, state, federal, etc jurisdictions to wear a body camera and have it on WHENEVER they have any interaction with the public and in EVERY instance they have an interaction, whether they are chasing a car, fighting up close, talking, arresting, questioning, defending themselves, etc. if they are involved in an incident and there is no continuous footage from onset to conclusion they should be held accountable based on a set of policies, law and consequences. Use some of the funds that are being threatened to be defunded for the equipment and cloud storage of all footage, which must be made available to the public upon request after a specified short period of time and immediately in any case resulting in a fatality of anyone – officer or citizen. This is only a brief 30,000 foot overview, but it’s a good start. Finally, the companies maintaining cloud storage must offer this space at its actual cost without markup or profit. Consider it part of being licensed in this area of business.

Lets get something Cleared up, Brown did not Say “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot”, it was his buddy Who Later made that story Up… Brown was refusing to Stop and was running at the Officer, and was then Shot! Body Cams should be Mandated for All Police, and set up so they cannot be shut off, BUT at the same time a law stating that Only Video/Audi that can EVER be used, is a Particular Incident, so that way NO Personal Conversations can be used…

Well it should be obvious with the cost of the storage needs to be legally lowered. Because it’s much more important to have the data to not have it. And police departments should receive lower bills or lower costs than anyone else for this kind of information to be stored. All video must be immediately be available for the public to review, as it comes in. This is paid for by the public for public safety. This level of transparency will restore faith in the police. There is far too much power being over-exercised by ego maniacs with a badge. Not every cop is bad and we as a society can also reward great performers, officers who don’t talk down, or power trip.

Also law enforcement is not recording 24/7 like security cameras in large businesses, public areas, and schools, each police with minimum of 4-8TB should be enough for an year of storages. We don’t need cameras that is 4K or 1080p at least police officers should wear a satellite or 4G LTE cells 480p camera with decent audio should be enough for this type of purpose “giving the victims justice”.

It is a very expensive on-going budget item for Police Departments. You have to buy an expensive network server. You have to have many terabytes of storage and mirror that storage to insure videos are not lost. You also have to dedicate at least one Officer to maintain the video library and make the numerous copies of each video for your local court, the defense attorney. If it is a serious crime you have to make copies for the county prosecutor, the grand jury and the defense attorney. You also have to have an Officer process freedom of information requests by news agencies and the public for copies of the video. Here in NJ we have to keep all video footage for at least three years. If it is an indictable crime or for example or a motor vehicle accident site and some other types of events we have to keep the video indefinitely. We were receiving so many requests we had to purchase an automated DVD writing robot to keep up with all the video copies we had to furnish.

The Public has every right to Record On duty police as has been ruled by the US District Court of Appeals{1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th}. Remember the whole situation must be Recorded, NOT just the finale results or bits & Pieces… I will say again, turn body cam on when they go on duty, BUT All NON Incident Video/Audio must be Ignored{personal comments}, and make a law to that effect… the officer could inform the supervisor of any possible problems{ie; traffic stops gone bad, problem with a Possible felon, ETC} then another officer(or independent)Transfer that info to a data base.. that would make storage a lot cheaper, and the SD card can be used over and over…

Trouble is even if cops get caught on camera ,the system is so fkd up, that footage is missing or accidently erased or the body cam wasnt on or there is a on going investigation and cant be released or it was found in another cops basement yrs later ! What good is evidence against police if they control the evidence ? Cameras are great when effectively used but thats not the case here with corruption in law enforcement!

There was an officer in Philly or Baltimore that was caught planting narcotics on a alleged suspect via his bodycam footage. The officer thought he stopped his recording to plant said substance, and then switched it back on to pretend like he was beginning to search around. Turns out, he hit the mic mute button instead of the record/stop button.

Where you attach the bodycam on your person can vary on usefulness of said footage. Having it mounted at the chest becomes useless when the officer has their weapon aimed at someone.

While expensive, I like the idea of gun and non lethal weapon mounted cameras that automicatlly record when upholstered that can’t be disabled. Then if someone is caught tampering with the automatic recording, that should be an automatic felony. The storage would be minimal as you would only need to save footage when it’s not holstered. Gun cameras in addition to body or head cams would give some redundancy and help protect against prevent frivolous lawsuits against good cops. For storage costs, standardize it at the federal level and use that leverage to contract it out to google, amazon, etc. at a fraction of the costs individual departments pay now.

The bias in this video is clear. The creator has already decided that cops are bad and the purpose of the cameras is to capture what they “already know”. Instead, what the cameras are showing is that the majority of officers do a great job and often times it’s the citizen who is out of line. But that’s not supporting the narrative here so it’s not talked about.

Just have all the cameras turned on live when the police officers start and ends there shift. And have another agency review the videos to see misconduct or not. And if there are misconducts there need to be heavy repercussions against that officer.

It’s amazing just how much power some of these people think the fed have.. it’s also amazing just how much money these people think the feds have if they think the feds are capable of requiring and supplying the cloud space for body cameras.
The real problem with body cameras, and the only problem with them, is that everyone was all up in arms about police brutality, and when cops started wearing them, it started showing that cops weren’t actually partaking in brutality. Now that it has significantly derailed the leftist narrative, they are calling body cameras an issue now. I have even heard leftists call for them to stop being used…. probably because it shows their little baby boy trying kill someone and getting shot dead in the process.

I actually had an officer inform me he was recording me before we started talking. And I live in Seattle so we are engaging cops quite a bit here. It went well and I’m a black male.
