Talk about the same rumor every year. Eventually, it’ll happen.

Would love to see an update to the Apple TV. Id pay more if it can do more for the home and TV

In what world is a TV-streaming box an iPhone accessory?
    SMDH

  5. @Alteomind

I think A17 pro not enough for 4k tv, if apple want to make smth like a game console they will make Apple TV with m4 pro chip

  6. @haftarun8

    August 22, 2025 at 3:49 pm

Thanks for the preview! I only need the new box to do a few things:

Match Framerate and match Dynamic Range need to ALWAYS work. No bugs, no jittery crappy motion, no football games displaying in SDR when they’re supposed to be in HDR10, etc.

LOSSLESS AUDIO BITSTREAMING, please. Full Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X Master Audio, etc. All of the source audio should be allowed to directly bitstream over HDMI straight to our receivers and pre-processors.

Manual latency adjustments for video and audio in 10ms steps or better. No more “hold your iphone up to the screen” crap. Just work like a regular device and quit it with the Apple walled garden magic.

The problem with Apple TV is that it’s not something you can bring when you travel. The Google Chromecast with Google TV is better, and the remote adapts like a virus to any TV from one motel room to another. I have both, and I really really love Apple products, but the Apple TV… it needs much more than a new chip. If it had any other name than Apple, it would not sell.

On the flip side, the problem with Google Chromecast is that Google discontinued that product line back in February.

I have one and like it, and I hope Apple eventually releases a streaming box in that portable form factor.

  8. @RickOShay

    August 22, 2025 at 4:18 pm

Completely underpowered and over hyped. We’d expect nothing less from Apple.

Isn’t there still a size limit for apps on the Apple TV? AAA games take up many many gigabytes of space now…

    August 22, 2025 at 4:38 pm

I hope the new Apple TV will offer 120hz out. I’m currently stuck using the built in tv software in order to get 120hz out of my Sony OLED. It would be nice to be able to use a faster streaming device if they stop living in the past with only 60hz video. 🤞

I am in the process of switching to android. I got a great deal on a used Pixel 9 Pro and man am I enjoying how much better Google apps are especially Gemini. Comparing side-by-side to my iPhone 16 Pro is pretty fun. Ordered the new Pixel watch too so looking forward to that. I will slowly transition all of my Apple One services to other services I think are superior. My goal is to have only a Mac Studio and iPad for Apple products. I’m discovering once you leave Apple, there’s a whole world of things to discover.

Would rather pay $500 for an ultra powerful Apple Tv with an M3 chip, 12GB of ram, and a upgraded Siri model that is equivalent to Chat GTP 5 mini.

  20. @ILoveGrilledCheese

    August 22, 2025 at 8:09 pm

The m1 barely plays AAA games on it, in no way is the A17 pro going to do it

    August 22, 2025 at 9:05 pm

Been waiting for this gaming feature to upgrade. I have the original ATV 4k and it works flawlessly. I was hoping for a M chip. It needs to at least play the Apple hyped up games like cyberpunk and resident evil village.

  23. @daniebello

    August 22, 2025 at 9:10 pm

A18 Pro with a cooling fan and an aluminum body would make a great gaming machine for the Apple TV form factor

  24. @la3692

    August 22, 2025 at 9:11 pm

With the a 17 pro in it, you’d be lucky to get 30fps.
Oh, well with the M1 and it you’d be lucky to get 30F. P. S😂

  25. @richman555

    August 23, 2025 at 11:19 am

Well Apple’s gaming is cloud based as I know it. So the processor itself doesn’t mean quite as much.

    August 23, 2025 at 11:21 am

Great job to Bridget for presenting the information so well! She made it look so easy to do presenting with knowledge and enthusiasm and its far harder to do than she makes it look! I’m excited to grab the new apple tv when it comes out. It will be my first apple tv device and i think it will be a welcome change from fire and google tv.

  27. @anteater2443

    August 23, 2025 at 11:42 am

Apples market share is continually shrinking, and unfortunately their solution is higher priced items. I have not had an Apple Tv since the 2nd generation that could be hacked. Right now I am using 3 Amazon fire Tv’s which combined is about the cost of 1 Apple Tv, but is much more versatile with what I can run on it.

    August 23, 2025 at 11:45 am

Gaming is ao boring and nto a real passion for Apple TV console box owners. It is not. Skip the gaming and move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Get past the games!!!!!

Who the f’ cares about the games!!!!!!!!!

Mostly those android / IBM PC gamers care.

We literally just bought our first Apple TV last month and it’s amazing. The new one would need to be a serious upgrade to make me consider. But if it is that big of an upgrade, im sure my parents would like our current Apple TV 😊

  37. @TheWolfHowling

    August 23, 2025 at 2:38 pm

I don’t use my Apple TV much, more likely to watch videos on my 4th gen iPad Pro 12.9. However, when I do get it out, the 1st gen 4K model I own is still more than than adequate. Let’s Be Honest, once again, Apple will be selling you on what an A17Pro “could do”, not what you actually gonna do, in order to acquire your currency.

  38. @devvratsingh9236

I love my AppleTV it’s my favourite Apple product. I’ll definitely be getting a new one, and I want to use it for games too. I’ve purposely not upgraded from my ps4 to ps5 in favour of the potential of a new AppleTV that can ‘do it all’

  46. @Kimjongilmao

    August 23, 2025 at 6:15 pm

Sorry, but I completely disagree that this is a “big thing”. It’s a modest upgrade for a device that’s already been moving in this direction for years. The A17 Bionic is not capable of allowing them to “enter the console wars”. This will still be for App Store-esque games and, yeah, probably some of the Resident Evil titles. That’s it.

  47. @andreirachko

    August 23, 2025 at 6:41 pm

If it lets me to play Genshin natively, I’ll take it

  48. @frednburied

    August 23, 2025 at 6:48 pm

honestly if you’re in the ecosystem, the appletv is a no brainer investment. I’ve got a 3 one of which is a 4k one from 2016 and it’s still being supported.

  49. @glenfarrelly8350

    August 23, 2025 at 8:06 pm

Apple could complete change the entire ecosystem with this new box I wish it came with a new game controller standard and a fast powerful chip so it is a new gaming system
