I am ABSOLUTELY getting the 12.9″ 2TB iPad Pro specifically for the on-device storage. It’s due for delivery between 09-23Jun2012 (and I ordered about 5 minutes after it was available on Apple’s site). I’ve run out of storage for audio & video on my last three 512GB iPhones (11 & 12 Pro Maxes and 10S Max) and I’ve had to significantly “curate” (i.e. delete) audio & video to keep about 10% headroom for my 2020 1TB iPad Pro and it’s getting rather frustrating. With the Thunderbolt 3 port, I’m seriously my considering getting a larger capacity portable drive to store ALL my media. Ideally I’d like to go for a SSD but it gets significantly cost prohibitive over 2TB. I’m tempted to go with a “Rugged” 5TB but I’m concerned that it won’t be fast enough to fully utilize the T’bolt 3 speed. (Any suggestions?)

Now the IPadOS needs to prove why M1 is needed. So much looking forward as a person who uses an Ipad with keyboard case as the main computer (ok I use PCs and laptops but my main device is an ipad – which i use the most)

“You don’t need a prophet to tell you the butt is at the back” if macOS runs on The M1 chip it will run on it no matter the form-factor (iPad or Laptop), you don’t need Apple’s permission.
Secondly, Facebook’s video calling device already does that camera panning and zooming… it’s been there for a while now, and shouldn’t be reported like Apple did something no one else has ever done.

Honestly, looking at how much small bedroom TVs cost, I wonder whether it wouldn’t be worth just having a $1100 iPad Pro mounted on Twelve South’s $80 tablet arm instead. Sure, the screen is smaller than a tv, but you could have it closer — like, on your nightstand — and it would also be a whole iPad. Food for thought, especially if you have a smart home you could control from the iPad

I think later this year/next year they might discontinue the Pro Display XDR and release a new version (the first ever MicroLED monitor?) & discontinue the Intel Mac Pro to make way for the Apple Silicon Mac Pro, just like they did for the Intel iMac Pro.

Fully agreed except one thing. “iPad now has the Mac’s guts, M1.” It is actually A14X and Mac has the iPad’s guts. One those laggard app companies like Adobe make native Mac chips, they will eventually have to make better UIs as well upon which time MacOS will basically become an iPad OS, which is more advanced OS. iPad OS is not an inferior system, it only lacks the apps who didn’t see this coming.

I really wish they would’ve bumped the 12.9 to 13.3 so it’s the same size as the 13.3 inch macbook…i think that would help developers. Plus 13.3>12.9.

I got the iPad Pro 12.9 inch 4th generation for Christmas, the 128gb version, but I’m still glad I got it, because it will give me the chance to see what all iPad Pro can do before buying one with larger memory.

I got mine from VZW as well. It will be my first iPad. I think it’s going to ship on 5/24. I didn’t want to worry about porch pirates so I’m picking it up at the store. I’m a little intimidated because I only use an iPad for my job which just has me in 1 app. I got the 128 plus cellular.

Ordered mine, went with 256 GB Wifi / Cellular. Was undecided on skipping cellular and adding more internal storage. But I spend a bit of time off the grid and find hot spotting to be problematic. Better to have it and not need it eh ?

I’m keen on upgrading my iPad Air 2 its just always full. But I’m looking at the 11 inch pro. Like I want the new screen I just don’t want such a huge screen and the mark up is a lot, don’t know why they didn’t release the new screen in the smaller version, the air 4 is still pretty bright don’t have much of a problem like my tv does so I guess it’s fine.

I still have the first iPad Pro 9.7″, which turns 5 years old this year. In December I bought a M1 MacBook Pro to replace my Windows laptop, but also partly to replace my iPad. Though pretty soon it turned out I will probably not use the Mac as an iPad replacement. I use the iPad often to watch TV (Netflix, Apple TV, YouTube, …). The 12.9″ 2021 iPad Pro wouldn’t be a bad idea after all. The WiFi-version with 128 GB would be more than enough, since I use it mostly for streaming. And I still have the Mac as a workhorse and for more storage. So I am pro the new iPad, erm, Pro. 😁

Remote Desktop capabilities are kinda bad for Mac. VNC and screen sharing isn’t smooth in my experience. Either capabilities for iPad to run a Mac VM or good Remote Desktop capability to Mac, would be great short term solution for full computer experience while they improve iPad capabilities over time securely. I use Remote Desktop with Windows, but it’s on a old pc.
