I got Sony everything except a TV. Want one

  5. TheBlooRayChannel

    October 9, 2020 at 11:30 am

I have both, and while the TCL does almost 80-90% of what the Sony does at half the price, what we do with Tv’s is watch content. And the colours on the Sony is king which makes the viewing experience vastly superior. And, my TCL occasionally requires its plug pulled out because the TV freezes and needs a power cycle. No such issues with Sony. Imo, if you can afford it, definitely get the Sony. Easy 10 year investment.

What’s the best TV these days that is within the 40″ ~ 43″ size? I’m looking for an upgrade for a medium size bedroom so something like a 50″ is too big.

    • Sternkrieger

      October 9, 2020 at 8:13 pm

Personally, I would go with a 2020 Vizio V series if you must have that size. They have excellent panels in them with 4K, HDR10 and full array backlight and are extremely affordable. No local dimming though, but it’s hard to impossible to find in smaller TVs. Hisense B7120 is also just as good.

  7. Paulo Moreira

    October 9, 2020 at 11:34 am

Mid range TV at a almost premium price point, remember these XH900 series are equivalent to the XG800 models of last year, the most pricey medium tier of the bunch. Skip this one, let Sony know they need to step up their game to keep up with their damn consoles 🤦‍♂️

      October 9, 2020 at 5:41 pm

@Joe Peoples i came from an SDR TV so maybe my standards are lower, but I notice almost no screen tearing. Just played a game of war zone and I was shocked how smooth and non blurry the TV is, not to mention the very fast response time. It makes gaming much easier.

    • Joe Peoples

      October 9, 2020 at 7:37 pm

@Arizona Hobbies & Rec oohh nice. I’m on an LG 75″ 60hrz currently and looking to get the tv in this review as it is on sale or one of the OLED which is up there in price. I want to upgrade tv as i am getting the series x and ps5 and want all the benefits I can get from the systems but been on the fence between OLED, Qled or this Sony.

    • Arizona Hobbies & Rec

      October 9, 2020 at 7:53 pm

@Joe Peoples from what i’ve researched, OLED and QLED Tv’s are great for movies/tv/youtube, but they can actually have a lot of drawbacks for gamers, especially if you’re a hardcore gamer. From what I’ve researched, QLED Tv’s run into problems gaming at high brightness settings, and OLED TV’s can have reliability problems if you spend many hours gaming. I was on the fence like you but after some research I decided to get this TV, however I’m sure there are some exceptions to the points I just made.

    • Joe Peoples

      October 9, 2020 at 8:16 pm

@Arizona Hobbies & Rec yeah I’ve heard the same on oled and qled. I think Sony Bravia may be the way to go. But maaaan when I go into costco they have oled tv right at the entrance and they look beautiful lol

    • Arizona Hobbies & Rec

      October 9, 2020 at 8:28 pm

@Joe Peoples oh for sure my laptop is OLED and absolutely when it comes to pure picture quality OLED can’t be beat. You just gotta think how you want to get the most out of it. If you’re thinking 60/40 Netflix to gaming id get the OLED, but if you’re a gamer i would get this.

Hate how no one ever talks about prices on these videos

    • Megaphonix

      October 10, 2020 at 10:34 pm

Because prices are subject to change dramatically on a day-to-day basis. MSRP doesn’t tell the whole picture – for example, MSRP on this 65″ model is $1399, but it’s currently on sale for $999.

I have XBR65X900H. I’ve had it since July. Still waiting for the firmware update. I heard it’s suppose to be before the release of the Sony PS5 on November 12, 2020. Have you heard thru the grapevine about a date for it? I would appreciate it. It shouldn’t be a BIG secret anymore since they have now done a teardown of the PS5.

@Fefo Fefosa I’m not worried about anything I say on their platform being known by google and the government. I’m not an extremist. However, eliminating hardware that your neighbor could hack into, that’s different. It’s not paranoia, but common sense.

I’m watching this review on the X9000H right now. It’s a very, very solid price to performance value. I would’ve liked a bit of screen uniformity with solid colors, but it’s minor and not noticeable unless you’re looking for it.

Is there a 42” 4K tv capable of 120 frames per second at this time ?!
I would love to get one if those super huge TVs but I don’t have the space to put one that big .

    • Laz V

      October 10, 2020 at 12:17 pm

They don’t make 42 inch 120hz no more the good old days are over. If you see once that say 120hz its fake. Only sony x900e,f,g,h 49inch a true 120hz, lg cx48 and nano 8 series 49 offers 120

I have the 85″ Sony X900h. Color, contrast, HDR is superb. People saying it doesn’t get bright, apparently don’t have the TV and just going by the HDR numbers, or something. It’s so bright, I sometimes use the minimum brightness at night in a dark room. Android works smooth, tons of apps, upcoming HDMI 2.1 with all the other features coming soon. Black levels are good, especially with Auto Local Dimming=High and Black Adjust=high. The x950h is just a smudge better but with no 2.1 support and an older processor, yet a more expesnive price. TCL is just a no-name brand. Sony has been around for decades.

    • gmace001

      October 12, 2020 at 2:55 pm

I bought the tv to replace my 900E. The overall screen brightness is not the problem. The problem is the 2% and 10% window for HDR. Highlights do not get bright enough. This leads to a very dull HDR presentation because the explosions and bright lights can’t get bright enough when surrounded by darkness. It’s a night and day difference. Banding is also worse on the 900H even with a high bitrate signal. I returned it and I’m not back to square one. I’m too scared to get an OLED.

Stop the Fomo compared the two. According to him the Q80T is superior in every case, the only exception is watching HDR content in a dark room. This is the only area where the Sony XH90 beats the Q80T.

Will 4k 120 hz work with PC graphics cards that support hdmi 2.1? And with VRR?
I just want to be able to go over 60 hz, don’t actually care if I get close to 120. I will likely be buying a cut-down version of the Navi 21 GPU.

$969 at Costco right now and the Costco model comes with a 5 year manufacturers warranty. Best next gen game console TV outside of OLED hands down… And $1500 less.

  32. Philip Broberg

    October 10, 2020 at 3:38 pm

HDMI 2.1 is a scam, they added it to make you think that you will need it for next gen gaming thus making you feel that you need to upgrade to a new TV. The next gen console games will be 4k at 60 fps and HDMI 2.0 can handle this.

    • jayshine27

      October 10, 2020 at 6:38 pm

Some next gen games have already been confirmed to run at 4k@120fps already tho so i dont see how it can be a scam

      October 11, 2020 at 10:26 pm

Couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase! The first thing I did after setting it up was heading to YouTube and test it’s 4k performance against a 70″inch Samsung series 6 4k TV side by side. The difference in colors was very noticeable. It’s accuracy and color detail is just better. However, I think the biggest difference was found in OS performance. Android OS is just amazing compared to the Samsung which was laggy and all over the place. You’re really gonna enjoy it! Specially if you game!

    • Daniel Suarez

      October 11, 2020 at 10:31 pm

@Bryan Vargas thanks for the reply brother! Yeah I have a PS5 on preorder and my old Vizio crapped out on me. I was stoked when I found this channel and BestBuy warrantied me this set at no extra cost brand new with 5yr warranty.

@Daniel Suarez My pleasure man! 5yr warranty at no extra cost for a NEW 2020 tv was a great deal, nicely done. Lol I also bought it for the PS5. We’ll just have to wait for that promised HDMI 2.1 update and we’ll be set… Hope you enjoy your TV man 👍

    • Daniel Suarez

@Joselito Rolon since the T.V. I bought was more that what the Sony x900H is now, it covered the new plan as well. I paid like $13 for taxes for a $200 extended warranty. So I didnt exactly break even…I paid $13

I sit here owning a supposedly “LG UF6490” 4k TV which they used white pixels to add on to their pixel count to try and deceive customers. I even bought an LG G6 smartphone. It was garbage off the start, the speakers, and the microphone were horrible. I ended up buying the X90CH which is exactly the same TV as the X900H and I couldn’t be so happy! LG has fallen so down, I am shocked they are even around anymore.

I recently bought the 65” to replace a 4 year old 55” Samsung 4K entry level model. I’m so so happy with this TV. The only way this could possibly make you unhappy is if you are replacing a higher tier unit like an older OLED or QLED. If not, buy this bad boy. You will love it.

    • Jay spoon

      October 12, 2020 at 2:30 pm

It’s a known problem with the x900H. I would suggest you get an extender with ethernet ports. Keep the extender clos to your TV so you can physically plug the ethernet cable into your TV. That should help until some update comes out to fix that. An extender is as cheap as $15

    • Pink Panta

      October 12, 2020 at 2:50 pm

Jay spoon questions, do you think it’s a cheap chipset or parts they used for the wireless connection? And will the wired ethernet connection solve that problem and kill the buffering issues?

So, TCL is better than Sony. Except that Best Buy is telling people that Sony will last much longer than TCL/VIZIO/HISENSE and that you have a MUCH higher return rate than on those models. Makes me not want to be either a Sony or TCL. 👍
