Sony LinkBuds S review: Small Earbuds, Big Sound

They don’t have a unique design like the standard LinkBuds, but the LinkBuds S buds are compact and lightweight with active noise canceling, great sound and many of the features of Sony’s flagship WF-1000XM4 earbuds. They also support Sony’s LDAC audio codec. So are they worth $200? Find the earbuds in this video here ????:…

I have fallen asleep with the original linkbuds. But I have lost them in the morning. Took me a while to find them twice…. Once I had to turn it up… The other time I could not hear it as it was not flat to anything to actually turn on.

But they can be felt when on side

Might have gotten these if the call quality wasn’t so terrible

For 179 bucks, no wireless charging and multi point connectivity is disappointing, even more so when you factor in the fact that my earfuns sounds good, have wireless charging and ANC just for 70 bucks. This was honestly a bad choice by Sony. If I were looking for a pair of earbuds, I’d honestly go for beats (30 bucks cheaper, nearly the same, good android experience) or airpods pro (200-ish on amazon these days)

    • David Setton

      May 18, 2022 at 6:01 pm

where is the multi point? I wish more companies would include this feature.

do you guys believe wired earbuds are dead? in consumers market??

    • Jay

      May 18, 2022 at 7:32 pm

Mostly is, wired earpods are making a return due to some weird trend but they’re still overshadowed by the wireless earbuds overall. They still have some like in the consumer market and alot left in the professional one tho

Sony really trusts its fan base????, frankly releasing these earbuds at this price compared to the Airpods Pro which we regularly find around $179 max, 1More Evo at $130 currently and $130 Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro, seriously unless you have stock at Sony ????????‍♂️????????‍♂️????????‍♂️.

    • David Setton

      May 18, 2022 at 6:00 pm

      I agree – too expensive.

    • SHIVAM ARYA

      May 18, 2022 at 6:33 pm

I mean they also discount their earbuds on their website from time to time so they should also be around 150$ in a while

  7. Jesse Rosenbaum

    May 18, 2022 at 6:03 pm

Design-wise, they look good. Based on your comments the sound quality is there, but that call quality seemed really bad. Based on that alone, I would pass on them.

    • jmaxim917

      May 18, 2022 at 7:21 pm

I agree. The call quality was really bad and for that I wouldn’t buy them either especially at $200.

    May 18, 2022 at 6:04 pm

Multipoint should be a must at this price range.

  9. Megatron2013

    May 18, 2022 at 6:10 pm

These buds should’ve been priced around one hundred dollars. Two hundred is too high.

Fantastic review, as usual from David. Definitely picking these up. Small size, trim fit, good seal, noise canceling, great overall sound – all really important and just what I need for workouts and rides, and no second device is OK. Big thanks to David and CNET for ongoing outstanding and very timely reviews.

The big problem with Sony earbuds is you can’t tweek the eq with ldac format. Only sbc. Should have mentioned that for us soundgeeks 🙂

    • Kyle VanWagner

      May 18, 2022 at 11:44 pm

Are you sure this is true? I have the EQ set on my WF-1000XM4’s and my phone says it’s playing via LDAC. Nothing indicates that it’s not.
