I love how easy it is to see how pleased Seth Rogen is with the pottery he made, and the quality of his pleasure: it’s not a masterpiece, he knows, just a quick example, but that pure satisfaction if making something real with your hands. As a knowledge worker, I felt what I imagine a similar satisfaction when I got into building small things.

So in the reading Seth gave for magnifying glasses, he mentions “see your text up to 350% larger”. The text on the screen says x350 magnification. Just FYI, 350% increase is x3.5 magnification. x350 would be 35000% magnification.

I’m reasonably irritated by the magnifying glasses. Seth states they magnify up to 350%, which makes a fair amount of sense, but the silly intern who did the onscreen text writes it out as “Magnifies up to 350x”. To clarify; 350% = 3.5x magnification, not 350x. Needless to say, 350x glasses don’t exist. That’s like high-level biology microscopes.

2:56 – The little difference in voice and overlay between 3.5x and 350x magnification. My little telescope has up to 60x magnification and needs to rest on a tripod so you can see anything. I’m going to assume someone didn’t think when typing. Otherwise 35000% magnification is kind of a superpower.

More with these two, please. I remember watching someone come for a guided tour of Offerman’s creative space. He made a very dry joke and they didn’t catch it as they continued with the interview questions. I think, because both Offerman and Rogen are both skilled as craftsmen — and have good comedic chemistry together, it would be really interesting to see each one sharing their creativity with the other in a style similar to an interview/shop tour of each other’s creative spaces. I think the conversation would feel more natural, because, as comedians, their timing together is really great.
