I will only buy one when they get actual flagship cameras… right now it’s terrible compared to the Ultra, or an iPhone.

    August 4, 2022 at 4:12 pm

Sorry. I rather pay the high price for great hardware than the lower price for not-so-great hardware. If Samsung wants to sell a cheap fold, they should release a lite version instead of cheapening the ZF4 just to sell it at a lower cost.

Orrr…hear me out, make it premium AND cheap

    • Speed Racer

      August 4, 2022 at 5:44 pm

Seriously, Samsung is destroying this phone lineup in attempt to attract people from conventional candy bar phones. The primary feature (the main inside screen) is going to a defunct aspect ratio to please people who primarily use the outer display. Cameras have been lacking, this is Samsung’s flagship product and they refuse to put their best camera sensors? Not to mention the lack of built in Spen is just a joke while they, again, pander to the crowd trying to attract people who think this phone is too cumbersome… if they just embraced the size they could fix all these things AND put a bigger battery to boot

    • Fuzer

      August 4, 2022 at 7:07 pm

@Speed Racer but then it would be much heavier their approach for now is to make it lighter as the z fold 4 will most likely be 10 grams lighter

But then you have to carry a phone as well.

  7. Charles Hocker

Interesting how the wish list will make the price skyrocket. So, stop crying about the price. Just be glad you can get one.

    August 4, 2022 at 4:46 pm

I was able to get the Fold 3 on Amazon for cheap and I’d say all of these points are spot on. I’m looking to trade my Fold 4 in if the price is right but they need to upgrade the battery and the camera, both are laughable at best.

    Better battery life

    • Fuzer

      August 4, 2022 at 7:05 pm

for those i can only think of UFS 4.0 but iam not sure if it will come or not since it entered mass production and of course more efficent proccesor snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus but the overall battery size will not be increased but the phone will be lighter at least

Microsoft has made a lot of software improvements on the Duo 2. I rather buy that than z fold

    • Casimiro Chor

      August 4, 2022 at 5:56 pm

A friend of mine has one, and while he says he loves it, the duo 2 is not a good phone. The 765G in it is a bit slow due to all the software stuff going on in the background.

I want to see less stupid pointless videos like this. What? You think Samsung will think: “Damn, you’re right CNET! ZF4 don’t have want that so we’ll delay the launch and fix it.” No. That’s what reviews are for.

As stupid as the podcasts that make a speculation episode 1 week before a keynote.

I want a Samsung phone with dimensions and specs of an S22 Ultra that can unfold into double its size😍. But for such a foldable phone to become a reality, Samsung will have to charge double the price of an S22 Ultra 🙃. So… possibly never… 🙁

I’m hoping the outer screen will be a bit wider. I’m currently using the Z Fold 2 and the outer screen is way too narrow for texting and social media apps.

S pen on the front screen.. Having it attached is something not a big deal, but, having it work on all screens so you don’t have to open to the larger display is pretty important for productivity..

instead of foldable, they should make a mobile with a built-in projector. Will never buy a foldable, but one with a built in projector is a whole different bird

    • Joshua Olin

      August 5, 2022 at 4:38 am

That would be interesting. Would be interesting how they’d minimize shadows when interestacting with it.

Maybe shining it up towards a surface instead of to the side? Of course this would cause it to be brighter towards the bottom.

But in terms of heat dissipation. Just the flashlight LED can get hot at higher settings. – I think we’d need a fan near the protection lamp.

Idk, I don’t think our technology is there yet. Not without insane bulk.

    • Mark Gonzalez

      August 5, 2022 at 4:55 am

galaxy beam was made in 2013. we can probably make a flagship with a built-in projector with the technology we have now.

i want to see… a phablet that does not make you wish for a future phablet which doesn’t exist yet. the fold 4 is… almost but not quite… and definitely extremely overpriced, considering that it pales in comparison to its own S22 Ultra. i want a larger screen, not a larger price for less abilities. i don’t want to wait and wait and wait for Samsung to wise up.

Aspect ratio of Oppo foldable is better than Z Fold but better inner camera and longer battery life is what would make the next Z Fold a success.

  36. Mahidhar Reddy

    August 5, 2022 at 12:54 pm

Samsung should improve in terms of battery and charging alot.. probably they should take BBK (Oppo for example) as an inspiration who has B.H.E which helps battery last upto 1600 charge cycles at 80% capacity and 150w fast charging system.
Atleast samsung should give 65/80W with dual cell batteries 😑. I Use S21 Ultra which costed me 1.15 lakhs including Care+ pack for 2 years still it charges at 25W (0-100% in 75 mins)

  37. Professor Dictabeat

    August 5, 2022 at 1:35 pm

Samsung’s fold series are unreliable. Their screens on the fold 3 get air bubbles in cold and hot weather and during hot weather the screen lets go. Their customer service is so so slow and disconnected that even good service is nearly impossible to obtain. I regret spending the money on it.

  38. ACed

    August 5, 2022 at 1:36 pm

Ive heard one of the complaints with the Fold 3 is the aspect ratio. A lot of videos and games are watched with the inside screen sideways.
If the Fold 4 is going to be wider and short slightly, wouldnt that make the aspect ratio even worse? Once you turn it sideways, your aspect ratio will be even taller and less wide.
Seems like Samsung is focusing on improve the outer screen experience, which is understandably lacking but the inside screen is what is selling this phone and should be priority

If you have the z fold 3 might as well keep it and wait for next year… i expect the pen included in body a longer lasting battery and a wider outer screen. All the other features can stay the same. I use the camera on my note 20 ultra for great shots but I’ll be Sticking to my z fold 3 and 20 ultra until i see some real improvements. Thanks for the review.
