Nice new features included on the Galaxy Watch 3, unfortunately it seems execution is an issue. Glad to see large tech companies with their own echosystems pushing the technology forward. This will prompt others to improve their offerings. In the end we the consumers win!

The hardware is 3 years old, it doesn’t have google assistant, and doesn’t even have REAL Samsung pay… what a useless piece of junk

don’t get wet. I mean it, if you use it daily and get it sweat, dusted and dirt you do not want to dip into water to clean it, don’t do it, it will eventually wear out its rubbers seal and in short you’ll be left with a wrist brick. Sport wrist devices are heavy-duty for good reason, same reason there is professional medical devices, wrist watch are just wrist watch

Old chipset, less ram, degraded glass, and a smaller battery🔋. Samsung cheaped out here on what you’re getting while simultaneously increasing the price, and that’s unacceptable.

Actually, that O^2 tracking is more useful for all the people wearing masks and limiting their oxygen intake to very unhealthy levels.

I was thinking more for people like me with Asthma

      August 20, 2020 at 8:34 pm

Uh what. Why do surgeons wear these oh so dangerous masks for hours than?

    • Origen17

      August 20, 2020 at 9:15 pm

@Tim Faulkner So they won’t spit in an open wound…. This isn’t rocket science. They also have strict rules as to how to handle them, and never use them more than once.

    • Jeff Scott

      August 20, 2020 at 11:31 pm

@Origen17 thats why people wear them though, the virus is contained in your spit. Which comes out of your mouth every time you breathe.

    • Origen17

      August 21, 2020 at 12:32 am

@Jeff Scott minimal impact, especially with normal distances. But the bigger point is that it is not dangerous to any but unhealthy elderly, just like the flu. You going to do this every flu season now?

I really liked how well you expressed everything about this device, i mean, daily usage, workouts use, normal use, even fall detection (8.30 that’s so funny IMO) but I’m glad you did your best with this vid. Excellent! But i I prefer keep the original one or the 2nd version instead of this one, you know, both are cheaper than this and share several specs!

    August 20, 2020 at 7:51 pm

Great review. I’m sad that the battery life is not as good as the original GW. I think most people will have to go for the 45mm model.

My Gear S3 Frontier still lasts almost four days before needing a charge, though my usage is quite basic – mainly auto heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, and notifications. Overnight, I have do not disturb and airplane mode enabled.

A day? Nope, gonna stick to the smart band.

  21. Jag Singh

    August 20, 2020 at 10:58 pm

I’ve been a gear s3 user for a few years now and some things like sleep tracking and updates have been great on this watch. Other things like step counts and heart beat when working out not so accurate. I can totally see the new features like trip detection not working accurately as well.

Folks, you have a watch here with more sensors and more functionality then ever before. That means it uses more energy and the physical attributes that give rise to that functionality take more space. What that comes down to is the watch would have been too chunky if they kept the old battery. Yes, they can try to to optimise the software to improve battery like but you can’t expect miracles. If anything the miss for me is I would like these watches to be able to super fast charge – you know 10-15 mins charge giving you 50% battery but I guess that tech would take more space to. So it comes down to this, you either want the watch as is with 1.5 days battery life or you want to strap something that looks like a tin of tuna to your arm!

Too bad it’s a Samsung. They will probably push the inferior bixby and replace some good Google features with useless Samsung ones.
Had this been made by Sony I’d be more interested.

I hv one question…does Galaxy watch 3 LTE version works with Samsung galaxy mobile or it will work will all android devices?

  31. JR Quinn

    August 21, 2020 at 10:32 am

Most likely the fall detection requires a sudden change in heart rate and vertical change, and you only did a small vertical change and your heart rate didn’t change because you knew that you were falling into something soft and safe.

I would not be surprised if it triggered if someone suddenly pushed you in a pool.

Not sure I’ve seen a video from Orellana before. But she’s great ! 👍 Seems very sincere. Funny. Re watch, I’ve been waiting for it. Cost is high and the limited battery life bugs me. But it’s got enough over the original Watch that I’ll probably get the 45 mm LTE. By the way, where did she get those great watch faces ? Looked like Piaget.

I like my black IP coated titanium watch (and band) with sapphire cover glass. It’s amazingly scratchproof (both body and glass) and hypoallergenic. Will we get that on a smart watch any time soon?
Oh, my regular watch is also solar chargeable, and has never had the battery replaced even though the lithium cell is old and “only” lasts for a few days. It sets the time via radio, using public service with no account needed from anyone.
Smart watches have a long way to go to match the features of a *watch* .

  62. Saffron Maverick

    August 22, 2020 at 9:24 pm

Why is charging such a big deal? Its not like this watch is an exclusive sports watch. 99% of us charge our phones everyday. This like a mini phone wrapped around your wrist. You want more battery turn off everything except GPS.

  64. Richard

    August 22, 2020 at 10:08 pm

Wait.. is that the Apple wallet app notification on 1:21?

How is this a complete review when the watch was reviewed while paired with an iPhone?

From my understanding, using an iPhone doesn’t give you as much access to all of the watch’s features, in comparison to using a Samsung device, therefore making the watch less capable and possibly contributing to some of the gripes experienced… all while a Samsung device was featured in the video and wearing an Apple Watch on the other hand…🤔

    • Vanessa Hand Orellana

      August 23, 2020 at 6:07 am

Good catch! In 11:09 I say I used it with both and iPhone and Galaxy S20 to test the experience with both, although most of the time it was paired with the Galaxy phone. I’m also working on a comparison with the Apple Watch which will be coming soon.

This does not look like a direct replacement of Active 2. Will there be Active 3?

  68. Akuphon

    August 23, 2020 at 8:19 am

None of those sports and health features really matter if they are inaccurate. All Samsung smartwatches prior to this have been garbage when it comes to accuracy. Especially HRM and GPS have been terrible. If you review a product, please talk about how well those features actually work. We can read the specs list in 10 secs and not bother spending 13 mins watching a video repeating that same specs list.

Don’t get me wrong..I don’t like this rose gold colour ..

  70. NutNbutSpeed

    August 23, 2020 at 12:12 pm

The thing that upsets me the most and why I won’t buy the new Galaxy Watch 3 is the battery. They made the battery way smaller and after what my wife’s (smaller watch) went through with battery issues we definitely will not upgrade. My wife’s watch will not hold charge for more than a few hours, not even one day. Also, the apps stuck on the Galaxy Watch and they do not work well. Stay away from the smaller version at least, the battery will not last.

  71. R. C.

    August 23, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Hi. Thanks 4 a great video. I had the galaxy watch. It came out about a year or 2 ago. It was mandatory to update the app on the phone every 2-3 weeks or it could not be used. Is that the same issue with the active 2 and the watch 3. That becames annoying after a while.

  72. Darryl Bass

    August 23, 2020 at 1:53 pm

The Apple watch has a ECG for 2 years now and STILL not available in most countries.

You’re crying about the watch strap when there are literally a million different 3rd party watch straps you can use.

Samsung has already pushed an update so both ECG & BP monitors work in the US.

For those with the Active 2 you CAN enable the ECG & BP monitor MANUALLY.

You’ve basically spend this entire video to try to convince people to not buy the Galaxy Watch.

  73. Barry Foster

    August 23, 2020 at 4:30 pm

Wait isn’t this the same gal who just months ago was telling me the Apple Watch was the best watch ever. Don’t believe the reviewer she is obviously paid by those she is doing the review for and her opinion can therefore be purchased. I want an honest review

You touch all the right spots when it comes to reviewing and deciding if its worth the price and i was think this was a sponsored review, guess i was wrong. My thoughts is it doesn’t justify the price and i’m better off buying a Huawei GT2, It doesn’t have the fall on ground option but it’s richer on the other functions on the price ofc. Thumbs up.

  77. Gecko

    August 23, 2020 at 9:02 pm

You tested fall detection on your bed instead of actually *FALLING ON THE GROUND?* No wonder it didnt work. You would expect it to be smart enough to notice the difference between
*”Ugh, I’m having a seizure”* and *”I’m tired and want to sleep”*

You don’t exactly want the police to arrive just because you wanted to sleep. What a stupid test
