I think the touchbar will make a comeback after Apple improve the UX / Use Case. Just like Magsafe did

I really love my Touch Bar, and I think I would choose this MacBooks instead of the new notch Macs just because I think are prettier.

It feels that this journalist cannot understand why people so loved touch bar.

I just ended up setting up the Touch Bar to display the “traditional” function keys ???? if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, I don’t think a lot of people want to have to re-learn their muscle memory workflow just for a cOoL tOuChBaR

Wait , this was an option to do and people still cried about it?

I liked the Touch Bar. I liked how you could smoothly change the volume and brightness instead of having to use the volume steps of tapping a button. I don’t think physical function keys are an upgrade but I guess enough people whinged about it and now it’s gone. Oh well.

Glad the awful Butterfly keys are gone, a single grain of sand is able to convert the entire computer into a paperweight. 5 years is too long to realize everybody prefers tactile switches like in true mechanical keyboards with no rubber domes.

  17. Sloppy Toons

    November 11, 2021 at 9:42 pm

What were the main uses of the function keys anyway? All my shortcuts are basically double key presses not involving the function row.

The volume and brightness set up was nicer with the touchbar and also the apps that used it for shortcuts the touchbar was quite useful.

I think these days people just like to jump on trends. If 10 YouTubers who think film editing is the only professional use case scenario for users.

It’s just like silly YouTubers who think the M1 iPad is overkill. It’s not they just don’t know how to push it. Because Luma fusion isn’t how you push it.

Possibly I am in the minority, but I love the touch bar (2nd iteration) and have decided not to upgrade to the newest MacBook because of its demise.

It sucks for coding and gaming. Nuff said.

  26. Skull M.

    November 12, 2021 at 2:15 am

Apple has made a big mistake yet again it’s like we can’t have nice things. They’ve removed the headphone jacks and home buttons from smartphones and now they’re scrapping the touch Bar!

  27. Internatube

    November 12, 2021 at 2:36 am

Also, the fact that apple never decided to make it a standalone product (aka ‘Magic Accessory’) _shows_ how little faith they had in this gimmick.

  28. Mickie MANG

    November 12, 2021 at 3:12 am

I like the Touch Bar. It’s more useful than dedicated function keys… It’s that simple.

I use the function keys and escape key too much to have them be digital and have to be opened in a menu.

I think the touch bar should be a supplemental feature that sits above the Fn keys in the future. Best of both.

Am I the only one who kinda liked the touch bar?

  39. C

    November 12, 2021 at 3:08 pm

Maybe apple should make the touchpad a touch screen? And maybe work with Apple Pencil

  40. Sonam Dargey Bhutia

    November 12, 2021 at 3:15 pm

touchbar kinda gave a mordern touch to the mac

  41. Sacto1654

    November 12, 2021 at 3:16 pm

I also think Apple realized the Touch Bar was too expensive a feature to keep implementing. That’s why the new MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ switched back to standard function keys.

    November 14, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Everybody hated the Touch Bar when they implemented it and now when they removed it now people suddenly have started to miss it lol
