Ketogenic is a fad. It has not been proven a long term success. It can also lead to cardiovascular disease due to the fat content. My guess is your patient may have quit other bad foods so keto looked like the reason.

  22. Helloface

    June 16, 2020 at 11:31 pm

Keep in mind that this guy focuses on just the biological perspective of mental health; what he’s saying is mostly true, but it isn’t everything.

Edit: Looking more into Daniel Amen’s background, the guy is pretty shady. He seems to focus on the biological perspective because he’s a businessman, and he sells supplements and high-tech equipment that supposedly alters brain structure, but there have been no outside studies that have backed up any of his claims. Although educated he’s regarded as a snake oil salesmen in much of the academic world.

  23. Lynne Dumas

    June 17, 2020 at 12:19 am

PLEASE do not take this man’s advice at face value. Do your own research about some of his claims. He is notoriously controversial in the field of psychiatry. It does mean he’s wrong, it’s only that some of his methods do not have good scientific basis. Edit to say that much of what he says in this particular video is just simple neuroscience and not particularly controversial.

Meditation, keeping a journal, exercise etc. are all great but why didn’t he talk about psychotherapy at all? Helped me with my anxiety disorder, helped me to understand how to keep mental hygiene after I finish therapy and why it’s worth it etc. And, most importantly, helped me to address the root causes of anxiety in my life. I know there are brains and nervous systems more prone to anxiety, just like mine, it’s inherited, I get it, but there were huge triggers to this anxiety in my biography, as well. Good therapist will help you deal with them in a healthy way, guys!

Ok, so let’s say that I’m on a day off, I live alone and in an area where I can’t walk and do things, and it’s quarantine. How do I fine those 3 good things? When daily positive interaction is taken away in my household and in my lack of an interaction(because I don’t technically have a neighborhood), how do I find those positive things? Often it’s just average stuff that I end up doing like cooking, cleaning, or doing small hobby stuff.

Also against COVID-19 : wear a mask over your nose and mouth, wash you hands and your phone (this one with alcohol) frequently. Remember that you could bring bacteria and viruses near your face, by touching your phone covered with outside junk because you use it after using anything on the outside, like the bars in public transportation, food in supermarkets etc.
And tell people to do the same, WEAR A MASK DON’T ASSUME YOU DON’T OR WON’T HAVE IT.
If I wear a mask and I come close to someone without symptoms I can still catch COVID and kill my mom or my friends with asthma.
