A new report from Bloomberg says Nintendo’s next Switch, or Switch Pro as it’s been dubbed, will house a new Nvidia chip with DLSS capabilities, meaning some games could be played in 4K when docked.

There’s more: analysts say the new step-up Switch should boast a better CPU and more memory, but cost as much as $400 when it’s targeted to go on sale, you guessed it, this holiday season.

If these rumored specs are true, I suspect this will be $399.99 considering the Switch is $299.99 and the Switch Lite is $199.99.
I suspect they’ll update the battery life as well as the JoyCons. Maybe this time, the JoyCon drift won’t be a thing?
I think we can expect some games requiring the updated Switch kind of like what happened with the PSP and the 3DS.

The question is, will the gpu scarcity be over by the end of the year — personally, I don’t believe so, it might be more a 2022 product realisticly speaking.

Yes, I’m definitely going to wait now. I’ve waiting this long to play BOTW. another few months couldn’t hurt. Especially since I just got my LG 77GX. My new media room needs an updated Switch!

Come on! At least give us high refresh rate 1080p oiled screen on the new switch

    • Dovydas

      March 24, 2021 at 5:30 pm

I agree! I would prefer higher refresh rate at 1080 in handheld mode.

It took sony and microsoft more than 10 years to push their consoles to hold up 60fps. Therefore, it’s unfair to ask for higher fps. It should be fine as long as it can hold a stable 30 fps.

    • sinka1461

Dlss cannot be on a dock it has to be on the chip itself

I just bought a nintendo switch 3 months ago and i saved those money for a lot of time just to get it and I hope this rumors are fake ????I just want to enjoy it for a bit longer that’s all ???? It just feels so bad u know like waiting to get something for so long than bammm the the new version comes out and slaps you in your face I don’t care about the new features that much than I care about the games it’s just me make me feel sad ????

That’s what I was waiting for, so it’s about damn time

  21. Dovydas

    March 24, 2021 at 5:22 pm

Is it too much to ask for 1080p in handheld mode? 720p with a larger display will look even more pixelated.

  22. Roger Mawby

    March 24, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Im pretty sure that’s the next gen Nintendo console. I think the updated switch will just be better battery, the oled, and possibly higher clock speeds so that the switch can play finally Xbox 360 games at 720p at a locked 30 fps.

  23. Kaori

    March 24, 2021 at 10:24 pm

    If it would cost $400, I rather buy a $499 PS5 or the $400 PS5 Digital Version.

    March 24, 2021 at 11:58 pm

U r right dlss will change everything on the switch when it comes to the harder games to run just hope that they actually have developers incentivs for dlss there old and new games

    March 25, 2021 at 7:34 am

I have been holding off on buying a switch specifically for their updated versions of the console because they do it with every handheld since the GBA. Don’t wanna get screwed by buying the original model when a superior one feels almost inevitable.

    • linnen_elm

      March 25, 2021 at 4:38 pm

Is this 2021-2022 rumored version worth? I also holding back to buy one while waiting the monster hunter series lel

  29. Harlock2day

    March 25, 2021 at 10:40 am

For the price expectations go and check what Nintendo did in the past. If the Pro replaces the current Switch it will not cost more. If they sell side by side until the original runs out there might be a price hike with the Pro and a price drop in the original.

I’m hoping the newer Switch model with have HDR support for both games and media. It also be nice if the new screen would be an LTPO 120HZ OLED panel.
