How casual eye and face tracking is handled here is frightening. You are basically strapping a surveillance device to your face, tracking every nuance and emotional reaction to stimuli. I am not anti technology… but let us not forget who you’re inviting into your life… certainly not a company known for being discreet or valuing privacy.

    • Captain Picard

      October 8, 2022 at 6:00 pm

Dude imagine giving an awful company like Facebook the keys the monitor your most intimate movements (eye tracking, face tracking).

Whoever is working out wearing a vr headset is NUTS. I can hardly play anything sitting down without sweating in the winter. In the summer I need to sit next to a fan. Not only its uncomfortable, you overheat and you steam the lenses and you are unable to wipe the sweat off either as your face is covered. How come no one mentions that ?

    • zcar

      October 9, 2022 at 6:03 am

So true. We spent two hours at a VR arcade and we were dripping with sweat and exhausted lol

    • Ε K

      October 9, 2022 at 5:27 pm

@zcar thank you ! they need add active cooling to the headsets.

    • Ray Price

      October 10, 2022 at 2:17 am

I think the Pro will be an open design where the facial interface is optional. This will allow more airflow during AR type usage. Though how stable the headset is while jumping around exercising in this configuration is open to question. I have exercised in VR and I think it does have a lot of potential, but won’t be particularly comfortable until we’re using AR glasses of a similar weight to normal glasses.

Wow. Sounds like there is a pretty strong filter bubble over at cnet based on this video. The presenter mentions “Horizon Worlds” (?) as though it is a thing everyone knows, it is not Disneyland, I follow tech (not VR admittedly) and I do not recall having ever heard the name/phrase. Also they claim we have all by now grown used to the name change to Meta, yet I still speak to people almost daily that only ever refer to it as Facebook, and reminding them that they change the name of the umbrella corp to Meta sparks the “Ohhhhhhh yeahhhhhh ????” reaction. I work at Geek Squad in Best Buy and still only ever hear customers come in asking for the Oculus Quest, almost never the Meta Quest, even though the packaging has been rebranded.

Technology isn’t there yet, but if Meta succeeds to make VR mainstream that means more money will go to VR scientific research and faster it will advances and reach such level
