Nearly 40 percent of humanity lives near a coast — and no two coasts are the same. How can these communities build resilience to the increasing risks of climate change? Climate advisor Dave Sivaprasad outlines how to tackle this complex challenge through an approach that looks for the right mix of solutions to fit each local context, from restoring mangrove forests to building storm barriers and beyond.

we constantly and have always continued to expand our borders, our villages, our towns, our cities, our nations. We will not stop destroying nature to build more and more, as we improve our building techniques and infrastructure we build more.. Never less.

As you continue on your journey, you will start to see yourself more brightly. The resolution will improve every day. You will begin to know what is really important to you and what you can leave behind.

It may be self-doubt that falls into the dim as your light increases. Gratitude and self-care will become more evident in your day-to-day. You will say goodbye to bad habits and recreate your environment so that it reflects who you are meant to be.

I bet we can solve more with love then we can buy force of all these initiatives. Love heals all things there is nothing but bad energy being transferred around this globe from person to person in every one of our feet is grounded to the land there for feeding that terrible energy into the Earth.

There are common sense things we should be doing. However our entire existence has revolved around those fossil, you can’t just rip everybody of them and force them into away when that new way is no better for the environment.

When I am told of terrifyingly increased climate conditions I look back at history annals. Problem solved.

    • Nothing Really Matters

      April 25, 2023 at 11:48 am

What does that mean? Man-made climate change can wipe out all life on Earth if we don’t act. I fail to see what that has to do with shifts caused by impacts or supervolcanos or just changes over long periods.
These are quick changes due to emissions and most life cannot adapt.

    • tynome63

      April 25, 2023 at 12:00 pm

@Nothing Really Matters There is no scientific proven facts that we are responsible for the greatest impact of climate change. Climate change is natural and has occured since the very beginning. Today we have the technology to deal with it if we stop killing our relyable energy sources until we produce real renewables.

I guess you never looked at what happened in the permian-triassic mass extinction event.

    • tynome63

      April 25, 2023 at 3:31 pm

@Nuno Foo How does this event relate to present climate alarmism?

    • Nuno Foo

      April 25, 2023 at 4:28 pm

@tynome63 Alarmism is claiming that every reputable scientific institution on the planet is in on an evil international conspiracy to fool billions of people and we can only trust the handful of scientists that are paid by the fossil fuel industry to tell us the truth.

The permian-triassic mass extinction was the largest extinction of plants and animals and was caused by flood basalt volcanic eruptions. This released large concentrations of CO2 to the atmosphere which in turn increased temperatures at a faster rate than life could adapt killing off most of life on the planet.

I grew up in Fort Myers, FL, the city that was destroyed by Hurricane Ian last year. If you looked at the barrier island of fort myers beach before the hurricane, you’d see that nearly every square inch was built upon. Any leftover natural areas were turned into parking lots. The populated areas of FMB were nearly leveled by Ian. As much as my heart broke for the losses, I’m stunned to see the efforts to rebuild without much talk about restoring the coastline. Mangroves are great but they take a long time to grow before they’ll have any benefits against these monster hurricanes. But heaven forbid that humans have any foresight when there’s so much money in tourism 🙄

      April 25, 2023 at 11:45 am

I’m sorry. My family had a beach house on Fort Myers Beach and we didn’t even have storm insurance as it was so expensive. I visited every year for a month for 20 years. We sold it in 2015 and said it was due to climate change and everyone laughed at us. It was built are strong pillars and a previous storm surge had gone right underneath it and right over the Island as we were close to the bridge on the opposite side to the bars. Anyway, every house is gone and in some cases, the land they were on is gone. They cannot rebuild as it is just ocean now.
I felt so sad when I saw it. The loss of life matters the most, of course, but I have so many happy memories of going to the bars and watching bands etc. I know Lani Kai is still there but everything else is gone. It was like seeing my youth wash into the ocean.
I’ve bought a holiday home in Northern Spain. Galicia. There are tall cliffs and northern Spain has seasons. I also sold up in London and bought a house in Edinburgh.

My advice is to move. Areas like Fort Myers Beach are done. Anyone rebuilding and staying there will end up like the people of Pompeii who decided to stay and wait it out. This isn’t even the start of how bad it will get.
Staying close to sea level is for fools. Especially where there are storm surges.

Human activity has already destroyed most of our coastal areas, but maybe we’ll get a second chance to save coastal habitats as they move inland with sea level rise.

If you wanna be successful, you must take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to making you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There’s always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life…

Mangroves are good but doing good things won’t help if we keep on doing the bad. Perhaps maybe ending new fossil fuel projects to cut emissions might be the way forward 🤔 hmm? Oh and chemically based agriculture.
