I don’t think most consumers would even notice their absence in smartphones. They do make good other products though

Their refusal to update their software is what killed them. Its completely on them.

The one who could solved LG’s phone business is Elon Musk.
Someone can still do something to save LG phone industry, even I can solve it. LG is manufacturing boring phones with weak software for the competition.

My LG Stylo 3 Plus never gave me issues and was a dependable phone. I finally upgraded last year because I wanted a newer gen flagship that would be good for a few years as I am planning to move abroad and though I did not choose LG, I maintained my good opinion of their phones. I love my LG Gram laptop, also.Thank you for your hard work, LG!

I hope they will make a comeback someday with their own software and operating system in the future cause i want to ditch android asap or waiting linux phones to become reliable and usable

It would have been great if Amazon, Tesla or Facebook would’ve stepped in… or maybe Microsoft… Nadella may have a shot at making the Windows Phone work after the fiasco that the company had the last time under Ballmer’s leadership….

I’ve been using LG from G3, G5, V30+, and now V50 5G. I’d have to say that G5 is the most interesting and worst quality of the bunch. Yes, the LG phones have long been considered as budget with top-tier specs. However, there’s a cost to that, they are cutting corners from places that are not listed on the spec sheet, such as the GPS module, etc. Although I’m always getting the top model of LG, all my LGs are having worse signals comparing to other top-tier phones. As much as I love the innovation and low cost (well, most of them I paid around 200-300 with 2-year contract, and 2 of them even gave me free TVs) of the LGs, that’s how much I hate their quality.

I had an LG Nexus 4, got one for my wife too. It was well priced and plenty powerful but had 2 major problems. The power buttons would only work intermittently after a few months and the much bigger issue that the graphics chip wasn’t seated properly and with use could fail. There was a last ditch hack-fix by baking the board in the oven to try and reflow the solder but it didn’t work for us. We had both of those issues happen on both phones. I’m sure it didn’t affect everyone but stuff like that meant we never touched LG phones again.

I wanted to buy an LG, but I just couldn’t. They couldn’t stick to a clean minimal phone that just worked. They had that great sound chip, kept the phone jack, decent ui skin, but they just had to fail at gimmicks.

If they kept the nice simple features with great sound, lose the notch and compete in price then they would have had a winner imo.

LG devices don’t get the recognition they deserve and it’s because of these corporate dumbasses that don’t know how to Market their products, LG does not know how to Market their products. While working at LG I had some ideas that could have made their mobile game Skyrocket but no one would listen to me. Now look what happened.
