      October 10, 2023 at 3:31 pm

@AlanSuperior 720p maybe but Samsung can achieve 2000nits with a simple mod the A95L can’t

Don’t buy Samsung they don’t do Dolby Vision

Imo in practice its about whether you want a stand or wall mount :D. You really won’t notice a difference when it’s in your home alone. Although samsung has worse software, lg is moving into more and more ads in the coming years, so, you know, pick your poison. Or pay up for sony 🙂

The Samsung S90C is the sweet spot, imo.

I realized this after I came across Julia Marie Cohenbrach.

LG should give you the choose to wall mount or use a proper stand better on the G3 still give the new tech in the C series

    • Katheryn

      October 10, 2023 at 11:51 am

In Australia the LG G3 comes with both the wall mount and the stand included for all sizes, from every retailer at no extra cost. I really don’t know why it’s not the same everywhere else.

    • Neil Taylor

      October 10, 2023 at 12:00 pm

@Katheryn apparently the stand is not very good

    • Katheryn

      October 10, 2023 at 12:12 pm

@Neil Taylor I’ve heard yes the stand can wobble a bit but only when moving the tv, if you leave it alone the stands perfectly fine.

Well the latest VE Shootout had the A95L in first place, the G3 in second and the S95C last. So this comparison lines up with that. HDTVTest, AVForms, RTINGS, WHAT-HIFI, FlatpanelsHD and now CNET have all said the G3 is better than the S95C too.

    • Sonola777

      October 10, 2023 at 10:42 am

@Sic Semper Beats Exactly! Whilst the A95L is a great TV; the shootout score gap between it, the G3 and S95C is so minimal that there is simply no way it justifies the price premium Sony is charging. For example in the U.K. the G3 and S95C are priced at £4,000 and the A95L is at £6,000. There is NO WAY the A95L is £2,000 worth of performance better than the G3 and S95C.

    • NexGenTek

      October 10, 2023 at 3:29 pm

@Sonola777It’s not worth the difference especially in other places than the United States! Do the Mod for the S95C and get 2000nits in filmmaker and 300 nits full field and it blows the G3 and A95L away it now becomes the brightest and most colorful oled to date!

    • Firocity

      October 10, 2023 at 9:18 pm

      @NexGenTekWhich mod?

    • NexGenTek

      October 10, 2023 at 9:27 pm

@Firocity The Ana Peak mod to achieve 2000 nits! I have footage of what it would look like on my channel

I’m purchasing a 77″ A95L. Wish it came in 83″ but with Sony prices I wouldn’t want to drop $6.5K on a TV lol

    • Alan

      October 10, 2023 at 1:19 pm

Congrats. That’s the king of all TVs

    • Blake

      October 10, 2023 at 6:00 pm

@Alan Thanks, currently coming from no TV at all so I think I’m in for an awakening!

In Australia the LG G3 comes with both the wall mount and the LG stand included at no extra cost, from all retailers. I’m shocked it’s not like that everywhere else.

That was the dumbest, most uselessly inconclusive comparison I’ve ever seen. Really CNET? “G3 wins in the best picture category because it has the best picture”

  24. NexGenTek

    October 10, 2023 at 3:36 pm

Don’t let this man lie to you the S95C blows the G3 away! Lost all faith in CNET! I had both it doesn’t even compare!

Apple filed a trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI last Friday, and it’s not messing around. The complaint alleges a pattern of misconduct reaching all the way up to OpenAI’s chief hardware officer and claims more than 400 former Apple employees now work at the company. OpenAI’s response so far has been carefully hedged, and the timing couldn’t be worse with the company reportedly eyeing an IPO as early as later this year.

On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, hosts Kirsten Korosec, Anthony Ha, and Sean O’Kane dig into what the lawsuit could mean for OpenAI’s own hardware ambitions and IPO timeline, plus a bigger theme running through the week’s news: how much should anyone trust AI companies with their data?
