Like your reviews and respect your opinions but the off white on your set denotes it is a non-US version TV. The white is only in a few international markets. The US versions are all a dark charcoal version. Loving my C1 and glad you recommended it.

And a question, do you plan to review the Sony A80J and compare it to the C1. While most reviewers give the best OLED TV award to the overpriced (in my opinion) A90J, I would be interested in your take on the A80J/C1 comparison. Thanks again.

    • Daniel Allopenna

      August 26, 2021 at 2:16 pm

A80J actually has better upscaling for lower resolution content & is better for SDR gaming. It gets a little brighter or more punchier with colors. I am also leaning towards Sony b/c they are the only manufacturer to support DTS X. There is still a lot of physical media using DTS X. If you are an avid & competitive gamer, stick with LG. For movies/upscaling, occasional gaming can’t go wrong with the Sony.

@jide124 Thank you! I obviously missed it. I don’t consider that price-point “high end”.

    • jide124

      August 26, 2021 at 1:42 pm

@DJL66 a lot of people would disagree. Any tech over a grand is usually expensive to the masses.

    • DJL66

      August 26, 2021 at 2:18 pm

@jide124 I didn’t mean that to come off the way it sounded. I guess I was expecting $5,000 or more.

Hi David. Eight years ago, on your advice, I bought the finest plasma I ever owned, a Panasonic VT60. Time passed, standards changed, and I’ve been looking for your C1 review for weeks! It comes too late. I already bought it.

    My God, HDR.

    My God.

I have the C1, best TV overall in 2021

  10. Chino Gambino

    August 26, 2021 at 3:39 pm

Do you like you watch your TV on 35% brightness to avoid ABL? Are you always siting in a pitch dark room? No? Then the C1 is not for you.

If you are not an AV enthusiast or coming from a plasma this TV is pretty disappointing. No one tells you just how dim it is and a lot of content is dull and plain boring on it as a result. I was not wowed by it.

    Expensive +unreliable burn-in = no thanks

    • David Fluty

      August 27, 2021 at 4:12 am

Expensive because it’s quality and if you treat your OLED with respect you’ll be fine. Buy the G1 with a 5 yr warranty included for burn in if you’re so worried abt it.

    • Allen Kutter

      August 28, 2021 at 1:12 am

Not to mention the nasty looking grid pattern that is visible on literally every oled panel this year.. Reviewers dont want to mention thay tho.

How does it handle the problem of image “burn in”? I have a 5 year old LG OLED TV and it has persistent screen artifacts from binge watching the same channel. I always had all the anti-burn in features activated but they did not stop it from happening. It’s very frustrating that somehow my OLED phone screen has never developed any artifacts but my, much more expensive, TV has.

My C1 65 has been amazing, colours are amazing, movies in 4K are breathtaking, you can see so much more detail and for gaming there is nothing better. Best Tv ever

Can you compare it with Sony A80J?

    • Evan G

      August 27, 2021 at 11:26 am

Check out keep it Classy Tech or Tech with KG for the comparison. These bigger companies don’t show you the real differences in processing capabilities.

    • Joost vd Werf

      August 27, 2021 at 12:20 pm

Don’t buy the A80J if you game. The logo dimming feature can’t be turned off and sucks the life out of the image after a couple of minutes. I noticed it immediately and it’s getting swapped for a G1.

    • Evan G

      August 27, 2021 at 12:30 pm

Yep and don’t buy LG if you are a serious movie watcher. I had to sell my OLED, the PQ is terrible compared to this year’s Sony especially film grain on low quality content. Unfortunately you need to pick your poison.

I’ve worked nearly 40 years in tv retail as both a tv engineer and sales rep. I can honestly say that the image on the LG C1 is by a long way the most accurate and pleasing I’ve ever seen.

  20. Mr Fieldstein

    August 26, 2021 at 7:23 pm

3:10 My LG TV was changing modes when he did. I saw his wall changing colors. Not just his tv. lol. Or maybe it was just adjusting for the changing of tones on the C1 screen.

$1,500 is expensive? I know it’s not sub 1,000 but that’s a new phenomenon over the pass 20 to 25 years since HDTVs have existed.

I hope the channel switching is easier. With the smart TV my parents recently watched, it has annoying lag ; particularly when the built in guide is on.

besides gaming, the Sony A90J is the superior tv. excluding gaming, the C1 has the lowest latency.

Yeah right, the best TVs for playing video games, but it’s not the best TV for watching movies. The A80J is the best TV for movies that they have tested.

C1 is awesome. Friends that don’t care about tvs play a game or two on it and start caring. Wish the remote had backlight or at least glow in dark on main buttons.
