Navalny is the same imperialist as all russians. He even said that Crimea is not a “sandwitch” to get back to Ukraine. Also it’s obviously not true about 15% of support, because this questioning was done only on narrow group of people, who supports Navalny. You can check pulls with 80% support for putin. Shame on you Ted to spread propaganda to whiten russians.

You fell for all the same Putin propaganda so easily, it’s amazing. I, as a person living in Russia, was surprised to discover for myself that it turns out that, according to your words, I support Putin and drown for the war. It is interesting to hear the opinion of all my friends who live in Russia and are categorically against what Putin has arranged. But this is not the worst thing – you were given one quote from our oppositionist 15 years ago, and you are already ready to devour him with giblets. Excuse me, but in your country, the president excuses his whole family from corruption, simultaneously accusing the previous head of it, who did not build his business on fraud with Chinese companies. Finally, Navalny is a symbol of the struggle against dictatorship, to accuse him of imperialism is incredible insanity

First of all, why the daughter of a man, who supported annexation of Crimea and occupations of Sakartvelo (Georgia) in 2008 is speaking on an international platform? Send of all, why teaching lessons learnt from imperiallist? Why don’t you invite Ukrainians to speak on bravery, on lessons they’ve learnt? How many IT, PMs, university professors with degrees went to war and are fighting for their country. Why don’t you invite Oksen Lisovyi?
I am not even mentioning, that you let her give absolutely untruthful and not representative data, as you should check latest statistics reports on how many russians support war in Ukraine. Shame on you.

She said that only 15% believe in propaganda statements. So what are the rest of russians, “sober” ones, are doing? Yup, they might not believe in propaganda vomit about russian nation greatness and superiority, but they seem to be totally Ok with what russia’s doing NOT having a need to be fed with all this stuff 🤔 if these 85% are not pro-regime, what are they going to do? Just put up with these endless wars and massacres? If yes, explain me, please, how we came to idea that passive and indifferent witnesses are not accomplices 😬 how aren’t you sick with all these russian opposition whining while they’ve been acting out for years to hide their imperialistic ambitions?

I look at the comments and all I see is “Crimean sandwich” and “supported the war with Georgia”. Apparently it’s not relevant to call Navalny an “agent of the Kremlin” when he’s in jail, and they’ve never come up with anything else
They want people to think that everyone in Russia supports Putin. Especially those who are against Putin. That in itself breaks a person, if you think you are alone in your views, it makes you apathetic. That’s not true. Look for like-minded people, look for allies. A bloody dictator will fall ✊

This is a sad picture of Russian opposition, while Russia wages genocidial war in Ukraine and commits crimes against humanity, they are investigating dog shows and villas. And she lies about the need to inform Russian people, they know that leadership is corrupt and they acept that, it has always been like that, they don’t imagine it could be otherwise. Yes it is a sad story bud ACF is useless organization, lots of PR but no substantial actions against Putin.

There is so much anger in your comments. The girl says that if the world is not against Putin’s oligarchs, then they will continue to earn money. It is convenient to talk about the rallies without living in Russia, without knowing what really happened here and what is happening now.
Most businessmen continue to interact with Europe without feeling any sanctions and their family lives in London. And even if 100,000 people go to a rally, there will be 500,000 Putin’s police officers who will be ready to give you years in prison
The comments about Stanford are strange, did she enter based on her knowledge or is Stanford a corrupt university without authority? Doubtful.

God, there are so many righteous people in the comments! Clean, well-groomed, enlightened. They talk about good Russians and the shortcomings of Navalny, who is in prison and clearly opposes the war. Allegedly he is an imperialist and a chauvinist…

All your “dignity”, the righteous of YouTube, ends with teasing in the comments. Before you ask the question about why the “good” Russians didn’t demolish Putin, answer the question: why aren’t you on the front line?

Navalny had the balls to openly oppose Putin, which radically distinguishes him from all these funny commentators.

When a wise man points to a star, a fool sees a finger. There are always a lot of fools. It’s part of life. And YouTube in this sense is just a bunch of idiots.

Alexey Navalny is a hero, and Dasha bears his name with honor.

you are not right. Navalny is the only politician who raised people to fight the regime, that’s why he is in prison. Navalny fought for fair elections and against corruption. he made mistakes, but this does not deprive him of the entire background of the fight against Putin’s policies – large protests, investigations, popularization of politics in society to fight for democracy.

  49. Olga Ra

Celebritification of Navalny family should stop. Their father supported the annexation of Crimea in 2014, war in Georgia and held nationalist rallies for imperial Russia throughout his career. He called Chechens cockroaches, and is islamophobic towards North Caucasian people. He overplays his “movement for free russia” or whatever it means to the west for attention.

I wonder when Ukrainians and the World want Russians to do something with our policy and in the same time portrait best and most successful Russian oppositioners as bad as Putin. If it’s not a russophobia then I don’t know waht it is. You know, Russian opposition anyway has no obligation to care about YOUR country prosperity only about Russia. And you know, they can change their political views, i also support annexation of Crimea in 2014, now in 2023 I don’t think that way.

It is interesting that democratic countries have to help russians because they cannot free themselves from the so-called Putin regime. Of course, hundreds of thousands of Putins are now fighting against the existence of my country. Of course, there is no support for this war among ordinary people in russia. But for some reason, mobilization continues and hundreds of thousands of people go to fight and kill Ukrainians. Hundreds of thousands of people in the rear of russia produce missiles, support the defense industry and pay taxes, and so every day ordinary russians take part in the war by bombarding the cities of my country. I wish Daria would talk about this. Because if she admits this, it will become scary and not so many people in the room will applaud the genocide against Ukrainians. And until russians like you, come out to change something in your country, nothing will change. You will be replacing one dictator with another.

Putin is a self-proclaimed president who rigged all the elections. We want to be free from this criminal regime and have real elections with all the free candidates, who are in prison now. We need a parliament republic and change of constitution back to normal, so that no one can be a dictator anymore.

  62. Ilya

There’s only a small fraction of people in Russia who can truly support our wannabe “Czar” and his politics after 24.02.2022. Most of them are just ignorant ordinary people trying to survive on a $200-300 salary that don’t have time to think about politics, and some of pro-Kremlin crowd do actually quite well, but wish to see our country as an empire no matter the price.

I do belive that MOST Russian people do not want the war with Ukraine or international sanctions and isolation. We want to coexist in peace with the rest of the world and our voices to be heard.

P.S. if anyone thinks that we don’t protest in Russia because we like what we see, I DARE YOU to visit our country and try it yourself. Any protest activity is banned in our country now. We’re in a real mess…

Navalny has always spoken out against the war with Ukraine, advocated democracy in Russia, and was the most active in the fight for it. Beautiful and inspiring, Dasha is the true voice of young Russians who are against the war and against Putin’s regime. I am against the war. All my friends are against the war. No one believes propaganda, but no one dares to stand against it. We want to live in peace and be part of the civilized world, but it is literally illegal now to speak out against the war. We are silenced and robbed by this so-called ‘government’.

She is right , don’t take you freedom for granted. Protect your democracy from corrupt dictators, you don’t want to experience what happened to us.

Dasha is right. Her father is in prison for one thing — publicly opposing Putin. Thousands of people are jailed for the same thing now, also at leas 20000 people were imprisoned and fined in Russia for speaking against the war in Ukraine. The world should support Navalny and other opposition to Putin in Russia, if we want peace in the whole world. We can’t have a nuclear power in the hands of an unhinged dictator.

Amazing. My previous comment was mass-reported, and now it is not visible, despite having more than a hundred likes. But I believe people deserve to know the context, so here we go again. Below are some easily verifiable facts about Navalny and his team (the so-called Anti-Corruption Foundation):

    1. Navalny supported the invasion of Georgia and compared Georgians with rodents.
    2. Navalny took part in ethnic russian marches (ethnonationalistic marches later banned by the government).
    3. Navalny is known for using racial slurs. He compared an ethnic minority in russia with insects.
    4. Despite all the hostility toward non-ethnic russians, Navalny or his team members never supported the struggles of occupied minorities to become independent.
    5. Navalny declared he would keep Crimea occupied if elected.
    6. Navalny and his team members discouraged people from abroad from donating to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
    7. Navalny encouraged people from abroad to invest their money in the russian advertisement companies and to pay them for the “ads that tell the truth about the war.”
    8. Navalny’s team helped to fix corruption in the russian military-industrial complex by scrutinizing and sharing their findings with the public.
    9. Navalny’s team transferred money from abroad to the russian federal budget. They covered it by paying fines of those who “opposed Putin.”
    10. Navalny’s team tried to work toward lifting sanctions.
    11. Navalny’s team (and his family members, as you can see) was heavily engaged in spinning self-centric victim-playing narratives.
    12. One Navalny’s team member suggested the West should pay russia money after the war is over so that russians don’t invade again.

If some Navalny cult members confuse you with the “It’s a lie!” spam below this comment, as they did below my previous comment, simply look it up, you can verify each point in less than 5 minutes, since everything described here Navalny and/or his team did publicly. And if you are not a cult member, please give this comment a thumbs up! Thus, people will be able to see what this is all about.

Oh these “good” ordinary russians. A. Navalny is an imperialist who is fighting with another imperialist for the throne of “tsar”. He supported wars in Georgia and Ukraine, he supported the occupation of Crimea. Russians stand side by side to invade other countries, that’ the only case they are united.

TED, are you kidding me??? Thousands of children in Ukraine have been killed, millions have been left without both parents, graduates are dancing in the background of bombed schools because of russia’s imperial ambitions, which her father also supports. The fact that he and putin did not share power among themselves, which is why navalny was put behind bars, does not make him a hero or at least someone better than putin.
I really loved and respected your platform, but now I’m disappointed 🤦‍♀️

Have you ever wondered, maybe just for a minute, that this video is also a type of propaganda?
Using statistics to suit her own ends, calling people names, separating “us and them” (we’re of course good and they’re evil).
And if even Ted can be biased, maybe all the other magazines and channels, West East – doesn’t matter, can be too? Why is that that only Russians are brain-washed?
    As a Russian, I’m offended.

it is sad that a platform is given for speech and for the defense of Navalny: Oksar, Ted, then the peace prize? Navalny is not a symbol of the struggle against Putin’s dictatorship, Navalny promotes imperial narratives and nationalist views, “Russia for Russians.” “I recommend a full cleanse,” he says. “Everything in our path must be thoroughly but decisively cleared by deportation.” “Crimea is not a sandwich” – that is, he does not consider Crimea illegally annexed from Ukraine to be Ukrainian. Therefore, to give support to the followers of Navalnoy is to promote the sale of the regime in russia.

TED what are you doing? Why this person is here? What has she done? What is the value of this video? I just don’t understand why you allow terrorists to use your platform. And not only putin is responsible for what is going on in the world, especially in Ukraine. All russians, including this so-called “leader of the russian opposition” – navalny, are responsible for all the crimes they’ve committed.

This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.

Hundreds of millions of migrant workers travel within their countries to seek out means of survival — often leaving behind all they know for months or even years. Many face poverty and exploitation, and they need a robust social safety net to protect them, says migrant advocate and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Ashif Shaikh. He shares how his grassroots organization Migrants Resilience Collaborative is making life-changing benefits like social security and health care accessible to those who need them while also amplifying migrant voices — paving the way towards a world that supports the workers actually building it. (This ambitious idea is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.)
