Yes, Kermit sounds different as he’s voiced by Matt Vogel now instead of Steve Whitmire. Matt has taken Kermit down some tones compared to Steve and it’s jarring to my ears too, but after enough time passes people will accept it I think.

They broke up right before the 2015 show, “The Muppets” on abc, I believe to generate interest in the show. For part of that show Kermit was dating Denise, but she broke up with him on that show because she believed he still had feelings for Piggy. Kermit and Miss Piggy ALMOST got back together at the end of that show, he even confessed he loved her, but the show ended on a cliffhanger before being cancelled. According to interviews and their individual twitter accounts they are still broken up, which would explain why they are sort of touchy on subjects of their relationship. They have always been on again off-again, plus interviews over the years have always led to conflicting statuses, adding in the question of if interviews are canon, non canon, secondary canon, etc. It seems their relationship is back to how it was the in the original muppet show, the chaser-and-the-chased relationship, and y’know what? I’ll take it until Disney apologizes with a tear-jerking reunion lol.

But in the movie Muppets Most wanted it seemed like they were back together and even sang a song about getting married, having a family, and growing old together.

In Mupoets Most Wanted you’re probably thinking of when Miss Piggy sang, “Something so right” because Constantine had replaced Kermit without anyone (except animal lol) knowing, and while Piggy was delighted to finally marry her true love, she knew something was off. It’s actually a beautiful song, check it out and tell me what you think! (Sorry I just like talking to people about this stuff lol)

Their dynamic as exes is so much easier for me to watch than when they were still together. In fact, since I wasn’t spending the whole thing thinking “BREAK UP WITH HER,” the jokes landed very hard and this was the hardest I’ve ever laughed at Kermit and Miss Piggy having a conversation.

Kermit’s voice is fine. It’s the mannerisms and the puppeteering that make the character who they are. Sounding exactly like Jim Henson does not a Kermit make if the personality or how he moves is off.
Miss Piggy’s voice is also a tad different since Frank Oz is older, but no one’s commenting on that.

@BlythePennyBicycle21 Piggy is abusive, verbally as well as physically toward Kermit who is CLEARLY not comfortable with her effectively forcing herself on him. I know they are Muppets and all, but this is something kids who are in households that are abusive see and might get the idea is normal. If a normal human acted the way Piggy acts, she would be considered a horrible toxic and abusive person.

Actually, “Miss” is for single, “mrs.” is for married, and “ms.” Can be anyth8ng. Their relationship history recently is a little rough: They broke up right before the 2015 show, “The Muppets” on abc, I believe to generate interest in the show. For part of that show Kermit was dating Denise, but she broke up with him on that show because she believed he still had feelings for Piggy. Kermit and Miss Piggy ALMOST got back together at the end of that show, he even confessed he loved her, but the show ended on a cliffhanger before being cancelled. According to interviews and their individual twitter accounts they are still broken up, which would explain why they are sort of touchy on subjects of their relationship. They have always been on again off-again, plus interviews over the years have always led to conflicting statuses, adding in the question of if interviews are canon, non canon, secondary canon, etc. It seems their relationship is back to how it was the in the original muppet show, the chaser-and-the-chased relationship, and y’know what? I’ll take it until Disney apologizes with a tear-jerking reunion lol.

Kermit’s original color was kind of a washed out looking yellow. He was more of a lizard than a frog, but Kermit the Lizard just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Jim Henson died in 1990. Then Steve Whitmire took over the role and played him for 26 years. Then Matt Vogel (Big Bird, The Count, Lew Zealand, Uncle Deadly) took over the role in 2017 when Steve was fired.

I think the current Kermit sounds a bit too… monotone, and not very genuine. Both Jim Henson and Steve Whitmire had amazing range with their voices. This Kermit on the other hand almost sounds disinterested. It’s weird, because I know Matt Vogel can do better.

Matt Vogel (Kermit’s new performer since 2017) just dosen”t capture Kermit’s voice the same way Steve Whitmire did. It sounds like an attempt to capture the original Jim Henson portrayal. He’s got the tone down, but doesn’t have the pitch and ‘bounce’, which gave kermit his personality.
