2016 was the first year that I had experienced a Hate Crime. It was a Trump Supporter who was yelling racial slurs and hate towards me. When he tried to throw chemicals onto me, while at the time I was just walking to my car after shopping at the mall. I was still a teenager when this happened. And the hate that I felt from that man, stayed with me forever.

I don’t blame him, since he was probably raised to be racist. But Trump’s campaign was heavily empowered by discrimination and white empowerment. It was such a scary experience. And I would never want any one else to experience this. We all deserve to be treated with respect and humanity, no matter the political party, race, ethnicity, etc.

We can do better. But it starts with you. Check your implicit biases and how you can change yourself. This is why I do not hold hatred in my heart towards Trump Supporters or white people. We can’t expect change if we do not put in the effort ourselves to stop racial discrimination and prejudice.

What it takes to eradicate hate (discrimination, false stereotypes/lack of information, “tribalism”, and most other bad -ism’s) is to become part of a broader community. People learn hate by bad influence and lack of information/exposure, and they can correct those if they get a chance to work alongside people from that group… not by being threatened, harassed, ridiculed, lectured, labeled, punished, or ostracized/othered (ie reverse hate/-ism’s). Our commonalities bridge our differences.

Blessings to all. This New Year isn’t a happy one for me like many other families me and my children are going into 2021 with uncertainty. Losing my job, trying to find work durning a pandemic with having to home school two young children has been very difficult. I’m desperately trying to catch up on all my bills, which has been a challenge during this time. My landlord has been evicting families. Waiting on 600 dollars from our government that won’t even cover my bills. Please pray for me. I’m ready to give up! I’m not strong enough to endure this. If anyone may want to help my information is in my page. Thank you God bless.❤️

I think there are three main things that would make people erase hate between them:
🔴 The first is to use their brains to decide who is good and who is bad (what’s good and what’s not good) and NOT relying or at least only on religion and feelings.
🔴 The second is by breaking stereotypes through exchanging
🔴 Avoiding to judge an entire group of people.

I just live in a conservative muslim country in north africa and….yes we do struggle with anti-semitism, homophobia etc and that’s what some people are trying to erase, this community is hated for doing that in their home countries, and they are even hated when they go abroad because they come from a country that doesn’t promote human rights ! like people just think about these good people that are being hated everywhere they go ! be careful before you judge somebody.

That was a pretty long comment , thank you if you read it all, I hope our world would become a better place to live for everybody, just don’t offend anybody and never let anybody offend you 💚

Honestly, this topic is very honorable just as it is flawed. In every community there will be dishonrable people, only thinking of their own gains. And they would do almost anything to maximize them. Thats just human nature. If we dont get rid of things like corruption, offshore accounts, tax evasion, slapp suits, religious manipulation, or in short, people who use their money and power to oppress others or maximize their own gains at all cost, there will be hate.

If we really want to eliminate hate, there needs to be more equality. When you are somone on the low end with maybe 30-35k income per year, you cant do things like tax evasion through a maze of companies. You cant even do it the low-fi way because you cant afford the court costs if you get caught.
People who have millions or billions dont give a flying f__k about that stuff, because they know they can do almost anything.

Its only gotten worse over the past couple of decades and the only way out are extremly strict regulations. Unfortunately most politicians are dogs of the establishment although their 600+billions military budget is bought with the money of all the regular Joes and Janes. They can make a lot more privately if they push what their masters demand of them.

This whole society we live in is pretty f____d

To all the people who intend to comment on this in a patronizing way: You are part of the problem and you f_____g know it

When I first discovered TED about a decade ago, I used to watch a few of their videos per week. They featured scientists and professors, true thought leaders, talking about bleeding edge inovative ideas. After a while, they gradually shifted to lazy PC content. Every once in a while I check in and see what they have to offer, and every time I am disappointed. It’s not that racism isn’t important, or that we should be complacant about racism, but these topics are so cliche, and all their speakers just parrot the same lame talking points endlessly. TED’s organizational strategy has obviously shifted from educating people to showing off their left wing political ideology to score cheap points with the masses.

You sir, are asking people to let go of their reservations against Muslims, labeling these as hate.

For the reservations to subside, Islam will need a reformation. There is too much hate and intolerance in the Islamic holy texts for any educated person to simply dismiss the continued attacks on western values such as personal liberty, freedom of speech, and even lives of innocents as merely acts of deluded individuals.

I say this with the utmost respect for you and your family. Good people cannot let evil slide. When enough many do, the consequences are felt even by those such as yourselves.

  58. Voice of Wisdom

    January 3, 2021 at 7:00 pm

After 9/11 I wanted to understand why someone would do such a thing. So, I got a copy of the Koran and it cover to cover. I found two things that helped me understand.

First, the Koran begins as a treatise on liberal social law. Love your neighbor, help the poor… But, as it goes on it becomes ever more apocalyptic. Perhaps by the end Muhammad was contemplating his own death and judgement. I have reached an age where my past is longer than my future, and I can say from personal experience that it changes the way you think. But, to force this thinking on the young can have unforseen consequences.

The second was a story about someone asking Muhammad about a man that had multiple wives. He had no problem with this. “Two wives, three wives, four wives…” So, in countries where Islam informs the writing of laws, polygamy is allowed and four wives are allowed for those that can afford them. For each man with four wives, three others are deprived of one of the most basic things in life. This leads to inequality far beyond what we in the West would ever experience.

When a young desperate man is fed all this apocalyptic thinking, then he’s told if he becomes a martyr he will get one hundred virgins in the afterlife, is it surprising that we have terrorists? Looking in from the outside, how am I to know if the Muslim I meet on the street is the one that loves his neighbor and helps the poor, or the one that will try to kill me?

Wasn’t the founder of Islam, Muhammed, a man who murdered many, many people? How can this be called a peaceful religion when its beginnings were not so? This is very confusing to me.

Peace require sacrifices. Are you ready to give up on your Religious beliefs? I highly doubt that. But guess what, most wars were caused by differences between religions. IF all people throw away Religion and rise above as HUMANITY, one HUMANITY, only then we can thrive as a society.

Religion as many other things just put artificial differences between people. We don’t need things that make us different, we need things that can unite us. Or else, our differences will be our doom as our society cannot thrive with all the different beliefs, pursuits and life styles.

In a part of the United States with more than 17,000 years of human history, cultural preservation advocate Tracie Revis is working to turn the Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia’s first national park and preserve. This park would be co-managed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, bringing the tribal voice back to an area they were forcibly removed from 200 years ago. Revis explores the complex feelings of caring for this land and shows how it’s fostering healing in return.
