I honestly don’t understand the hype around a foldable phone. What can it allow you to do more than having an iPhone for everyday use, and an iPad for large screen use?

It just doesn’t make sense. Right now to me it looks cool for cool’s sake.

  3. @videobiker9131

    May 1, 2026 at 3:11 pm

Since I can’t afford to spend $1000 for a regular iPhone, I’m hoping Apple won’t expect me to spend $2000 for a folding phone. Much as I like the idea of having something that can fold smaller so it’s easier to carry and open up so I can watch videos on it, I just can’t afford it.

      May 1, 2026 at 6:41 pm

Your kidding right lol it will be about 2500 lol 😂

    • @videobiker9131

      May 1, 2026 at 6:47 pm

@Fatboydoesortriesit that’s about what Samsung charged for its first folding phone. What you seem to forget is that fooling phones have been around for about six or seven years and sometimes the best way to sell something is to sell at a bit of a profit. It will take longer for the R&D to be recouped, but it will sell more of the phones.

Device looks like a cross between the pixel fold and the surface duo

  5. @Citizen_2066

    May 1, 2026 at 3:28 pm

So interesting to not hear you mention the most important phones with the “Ultra” name in it. I wonder if it’s because it’s the Chinese competition. iPhone is no longer the Flagship phone it once was.

    May 1, 2026 at 4:09 pm

To me, this only makes sense if, when open, it can have the same aspect ratio as an iPad, or 16:9. This allows you to take full advantage of the larger screen when watching YouTube/NetFlix/etc. If it’s square when open, I don’t see the point.

  17. @blairsnkuna8072

That’s what apple 🍏 always do, they wait for the other companies to come up with an idea, then they copy it and try to perfect it. If they were creative enough like the other manufacturers, they would be on fold no 7 like the rest of the competition, but because of Laking creativity, they couldn’t even make a flip style phone 😅

  18. @Fran3490-c2t

    May 1, 2026 at 7:34 pm

Nobody wants a useless square screen. The huawei pura x max size makes more sense. If apple wants to make a foldable phone, it needs to be wider and not square

  19. @wayne-x30

    May 1, 2026 at 7:35 pm

Apple is a follower right now, they are NOT innovative anymore. Please don’t buy their first generation folding phones. That said, I am into their ego- system.

  20. @mattattack03

I’m trying to hold out for the fold. I want a larger screen, but am concerned about going back to the pro max version of iPhone. Hopefully the fold can solve the issue for wanting a device that’s nimble and portable when needed and a larger screen in the times that’s needed.

  26. @minhlede

    May 2, 2026 at 10:07 am

    never gonna happen

  27. @DJ_Darkstar

    May 2, 2026 at 10:41 am

Facebook on foldables is annoying. When you open it you lose your place. Like whatever you were about to comment on is lost and goes to a refreshed home screen.

Apple is behind again. Chinese brands have already beat Apple. The crease issue was tackled by Oppo since the Find N3. Apple’s crease is already rumored to be deeper than the Oppo Find N6. Huawei already released a wide phone… Samsung who makes Apple’s screens is releasing theirs just before and unless Apple can duplicate Open Canvas/Boundless View, their multitasking will end up being extremely weak as expected from an Apple product when it comes to multitasking software.

This will be the Vision Pro of Apple phones.

  28. @problemisme

    May 2, 2026 at 10:46 am

    I want iPhone ROLL!!😂😂😂

  29. @duzzie08

    May 2, 2026 at 10:46 am

Touch ID alone is worth the price. It’s really pathetic that Apple can’t integrate Touch ID and Face ID

  30. @rusenakman

    May 2, 2026 at 11:51 am

It’s a problem when a product is labeled ‘Ultra’ but its features clearly don’t justify that claim.

  31. @NylonStrings83

    May 2, 2026 at 12:15 pm

apple will just ruin it with the pricing i am sure

  32. @rafatech-o4z

As a brazilian, its funny to see you guys avoiding to mention chinese brands (the best) on foldables crease technology hahahaah

  33. @LMacNeill

    May 2, 2026 at 12:17 pm

I have literally zero desire for a folding phone. Bleh. I just hope that these folding phones do not replace regular phones.

  34. @dennisvanmierlo

    May 2, 2026 at 12:26 pm

It is all interesting technology. But with portable devices, anything that moves can break. Fun only the first few “honeymoon” weeks. I’ll stick with the non-Ultra iPhone.

    May 2, 2026 at 1:31 pm

Apple was expected to release one 2 years ago when they went out of their way to show a piece of metal of the same dimensions a folding phone during the iPhone release.

  38. @nmtay

    May 2, 2026 at 1:37 pm

If I wanted a device that big, I would just buy an iPad mini. I would much rather them focus on streamlining the iPhone to try to bring the price down, rather than continue to add new tech that isn’t going to do anything but raise the price.

  39. @PhenomenalBilly

    May 2, 2026 at 2:18 pm

If that phone releases in India, the only way i can afford is by selling my kidneys😂😂😂

  40. @TJDash

    May 2, 2026 at 2:35 pm

New shorter and wider Olds make sense as an aspect ratio of an A4 paper folded in half and half again, natural and instinctive with a better screen video aspect ratio, and my skinny Fold 6 & 7 for a while with the 6 could had been wider, like a regular today phone but eventually I found that the slimness mas eit easier to hold and manage and if need be I can. Open it wide but when it’s not, it’s just easier to hold. Guess I’m gonna have to try the wife new phones to see but for. Ow, I like that my 7 is slim.

  41. @TJDash

    May 2, 2026 at 2:37 pm

Obsession with the crease is like people who either love it hate coriander/celantro , I’ve never been bothered by the crease or even notice it.

  42. @deathknight777

    May 2, 2026 at 2:47 pm

This might be the weirdest thing to say but I think Apple greatest weapon right now is actually price. Look how much people love NEO. It’s objectively a bad laptop if it was priced at 899/799 but at 599? People treat it like gold. I bet the iPhone Fold is going to be like $1399/$1499 and it will sell like hot cakes !

  43. @GhostNoteSVG

  61. @natecaplin4374

    May 3, 2026 at 1:48 pm

Apple used to have a PowerBook Duo. Most have probably forgotten, but it was actually a cool ultralight (for its era) laptop design to slip into a dock that would transform it into a desktop computer, as the slotted dock would of course charge the laptop and also act as a dock with ports to external monitor, keyboard, mouse, external storage, printer, etc.

  62. @CherokeeFox

As someone who has training in IT and has had every foldable since the Samsung Fold 2, I’m looking forward to Apple attempting to launch one of these. Apple does not have the all essential and important ignorance on their side with this release. The majority of people are already aware that Foldables have been around for several years now. I believe and hope that this will be the day and the product launch that makes a lot of Apple fans finally start to wake up and smell of coffee and realize how far behind and how bad Apple actually is. Android people will be laughing and making fun of Apple people this time. I know this is an Apple video, so sorry to hit you Apple fans with the brutal and cold truth, but it is the truth. Apple is 8 years behind and has been for a very long time and they use Samsung screens anyway. This foldable iPhone will be using a Samsung screen as well. And don’t try to give me the excuse of Apple is always late but they do it better because that is not true. That is a lie that Apple fans tell to make themselves feel better about being behind. The truth is that Apple does it basically the same way or a worse way than Samsung does, and if you want proof of that just look at Apple’s first attempt to finally give the iPhone an always on display. I will say that I’m quite curious to see if this device will have any first gen problems. Apple is 8 years late already, so there is no excuse for that stuff.

“That’s not something you can do on an iPhone right now.” Yeah exactly because iPhones can’t do much of anything anyway.
“There is a learning curve here to be comfortable with a phone that’s also a tablet.” There’s a learning curve with any new device or technology. That’s the nature of innovation. Problem is most Apple fans never learned how to use their devices or how to use them responsibly, and a lot of them don’t want to learn.
