Apple’s 2022 iPhone SE uses the same glass as the back of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12. Perhaps it should have gone with Ceramic Shield instead.

Upon learning of the results of our test, an Apple spokesperson commented “iPhone SE offers amazing durability and is protected by the toughest glass in a smartphone on the front and back. All models have gone through rigorous real-world testing and are designed to be durable, but not indestructible. If anyone is concerned about dropping their iPhone and damaging it, we suggest using one of the many beautiful cases available to protect iPhone.”

Remember, this is on an outdoor sidewalk, so there is small rocks and stuff. This isn’t like other drop tests that are on perfectly clean concrete. There isn’t an easy way to standardize this type of drop test, but it does a better job of showing real world drops.

I love this thumbnail. I want to see you test your child’s bicycle helmet next. Maybe by pushing them off a cliff into a rock quarry.

Using same phone to test drop on different heights is not fair right since each drop will cause some unnoticable internal crack in the glass already?

    • RogueHetero

      March 28, 2022 at 7:52 pm

My thought as well. Though to be fair some people may drop their phone multiple times through ownership.

  24. Daniel

    March 24, 2022 at 11:05 pm

It has to be dropped multi times for you to achieve your result. This test is not accurate measure of glass durability.

Problem with these drop tests are nobody drop their phone face down like that. Should pull it out of your pocket and fiddle with it then drop it. True test.

    • miniskunk

      March 25, 2022 at 11:38 pm

Toast almost always falls buttered side down. This is just Murphy’s law in action. When you drop a phone, the face will always get the worst of it.

    March 25, 2022 at 2:57 pm

Three, two, one, if you buy any (expensive) phone, only an idiot would not, “three, two, one,” buy a protective case!

  30. Simon D'Ujanga

People are taking this test personal. I wonder why

  31. miniskunk

    March 25, 2022 at 11:36 pm

If it is a budget phone, they shouldn’t be using glass or ceramic on the back when plastic works just fine.

    March 26, 2022 at 9:31 pm

Took you guys a quarter of the video to do the drop. Stop wasting time on spewing useless info that we already know. Just drop the damn phone and done. Useless video

This OLD CLONE Phone is NOT Worth it !

  34. Alvin Koh

    March 27, 2022 at 1:32 pm

This video is a waste of time. Most people would buy a case for their phone, so I am not sure why you are dropping the phone to make a point. And do you really expect the naked phone not to crack?
