iPhone SE (2022) Review: The Most Affordable Way to Go in on Apple

The iPhone SE (2022) is filled with an old-meets-new appeal. It’s a low-cost way for people to upgrade from an iPhone 8 (or older) who would like to keep a familiar design, but it’s also an iPhone for those that don’t care about Apple features like Face ID or MagSafe. The new SE is essentially a blend of an iPhone 8 body with tougher glass and the processor from the iPhone 13. Apple’s mix-and-match approach gives the iPhone SE newer features like 5G support, a longer battery life and iPhone 13-levels of performance all while retaining the home button and the classic design that many are comfortable using. The iPhone SE is an extremely capable phone that gives you a great camera and all of the Apple goodies like iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Music and access to the App Store.

Sorry iPhone you could do better with the design and why at least they should be dual camera at the rear.

I’m strongly considering this because this will be my 1st Apple product ever. Never played with iOS or MAC and I’m coming from a Samsung Galaxy S8 that I’ve had for the past 4 years. I want something minimalist with little features so that it’s less for me to worry about. Honestly, with how fast smart technology is growing, I can’t keep up and I sound like a boomer but I’m only 24. I just want to live my life without digital frets and I feel like this is a good phone that could encompass that lifestyle.

Yes I want to buy 2017 phone with trash battery , display , design in 2022… ( PS : if you are totally casual user, not interested much in camera and use phone less and no heavy gaming… Go for it. )

I have the latest SE and am thinking of buying the newest iteration, I too am not a fan of learning a new phone’s idiosyncracies.

Iphone SE 2020 is what brought me back to Apple and it has been a great experience. I will likely keep this phone for another couple of years.

When I do upgrade I will likely get a standard IPhone for the bigger screen and battery but I really hope Apple will eventually bring back touch ID. It’s so nice on the SE

Interesting that SE stands for Special Edition when it was never special – it most likely means SMALL EDITION because it was always smaller and more affordable. Grab the new phone and enjoy iOS.

My uncle would so prefer this over any phone of 2021. Its an iPhone, its small, it has a lowet price. He wouldn’t really care for the 720p lcd display and the smaller batter. He’d upgrade to this 100%.

Why hasn’t the SE caught up with the rest of the phones , trim the top and bottom bezels !

Was it because in iphone factory still laid around with lots of leftover molds of the old iphones? Why can’t iphone se have a new trimmed version ?

    March 15, 2022 at 10:44 am

Already I didn’t understand the existence of the SE 2020, so the SE 2022 even less 😅.

But when Apple managed to sell more than 50 million, the other manufacturers really have to ask questions and fire all their marketing departments.

Personally I think a new SE 2020 or a refurbished 12 Mini is a better option and a Plus SE model would have been more interesting for many people.

On the other hand, no night mode on a 2022 smartphone with an A15 😳.

Today, all the misfortune that I can wish for a loved one is to have as much success as Apple with so little to offer.

You’ve got to laugh knowing this iPhone SE is more powerful than any Android phone. And at just $429 with 5-6 years of support, it’s safe to say it’s about to make even more Android users switch. 😁

Save everybody the trouble the IPhone SE 2022 has terrible battery life

  41. Shubham Sharma

    March 15, 2022 at 3:14 pm

The main concern is the battery, having the iphone SE 2020 myself it sucks like a lot, you can have all the power in the world but if it cannot hold a charge you’ll probably be using this phone in low power mode

Love this guy’s reviews. Excellent journalism like this is refreshing. Especially when most of the high-profile reviewers on Youtube are just making videos that are more focused on entertainment, with lifestyle-focused reviews that focus too much on perspectives that aren’t relevant to real use.

  46. RJtoon1

    March 15, 2022 at 11:35 pm

I still prefer the white face bezels like my iPhone 8 has. It is easier to see where the home button is and see the phone if it is on a table in a dim lit room while watching movies

And to anyone criticizing this home button design, I will point out to them that the iPhone 13 is basically a glorified iPhone X with the same gestures and style despite the squaring off. So whether it’s home button or just yours it doesn’t matter both designs are “old”now.

And thank you for a positive review on this device, there are only two other reviewers on YouTube that have positive reviews that I have seen, everyone else is trashing this device before they even get their hands on it! And I will never forget how they trashed the SE2 until they got it in their hands and they said the camera was the best thing since sliced bread

I literally want this phone just for the fingerprint scanner. I have the iPhone 11 and trying to use Apple Pay with my mask on is a pain in the butt. I wish apple realized how much people love the fingerprint scanner feature. I hate FACE ID.

    March 16, 2022 at 7:13 am

The iphone se 2022 is an interesting phone because of its old design which most people aren’t fond of. It’s for those who wants a powerful device in a small mobile phone like me and that’s what I’m looking for.

  54. Y D

    March 16, 2022 at 7:34 am

They should just call it the iPhone classic! Just like Chuck Taylors and Levi’s 501 jeans it’s a classic style that I personally love.
I personally think the iPhone SE is genius, because I like the design when the iPhone 6 came out and I just never stop liking it.

Plus if I’m gonna spend $1000 or more it’s not gonna be on a damn phone, I’m gonna buy some power tools to make me money.

    March 16, 2022 at 7:41 am

I wish they make a plus version of this phone. Though my hopes aren’t up. I still use an 8 plus and it fits all of my needs. I do like the larger form factor hence why I still use the 8 plus.

The SE 2022 is exactly what I want !! I bought a clear case from CASEKOO on Amazon, the clearest case I have ever seen, can’t wait to use it when my new phone arrives!!! Will you also make iPhone accessories testing videos? I can’t wait to watch them too!👍

  57. Dave

    March 16, 2022 at 8:09 am

.. keep in mind for $429.00 you only get 41GB of usable space, (which after a few app updates video and photos is done) and a 720p LCD panel, so while the photos and video may look good, if you use take 4k video or HD photos(1080p ) you’ll probably need to share to someone with a higher display to fully appreciate as recall the screen maxes out at 720p so viewing parity on the phone is limited. The 128GB model is $479.00 but still gets you the same screen. a 720p display and 64 GB for $429.00 in 2022 is just too high a price were it $349.00 that may be palatable. If you really want an iPhone get the 11 much better value. As far as the chip a better car Analogy would be a Lamborghini engine in a Dodge Dart body yeah it’ll drive smooth but try to max the engine out and the Dart will fall apart with the engine intact.
