iPhone Duo Livestream: How Many Folds Can Apple’s Phone Take? Day 3 – Part 2
We had a litlte power crash so had to restart our video encoder. Apple’s iPhone Duo is out and we want to see how durable it is. So we built a robot to fold it 20,000+ times a day to test its limits. How long do you think it will last? 100,000 folds? 200,000 folds?…

Fold-A-Phone FAQ: Why Aren’t We Randomizing The Folds?
Although we would love to account for every possible use case, doing so along these lines would have drastically increased the development time and complexity of the project for very little measurable gain. Perhaps we can explore more varied interaction methods if/when the Fold-a-Phone 2 test is on our development docket. Host: CNET Labs Director,…

The Wild History of How We Watch the World Series
How did baseball broadcasts get like this? Over 40 camera angles, shots change every couple of seconds, pitch speeds, exit velocity, spin rate, launch angle, and ads everywhere you look. I went back through the archives of Major League Baseball to see how we got here, starting with the very first World Series in 1903.…

@jamesmcknight803 7 years ago they stopped at 100,003 folds though.

Just how much has CNET’s tech regressed over the last eight years? That clapping machine was light-years ahead of what they have now.

this test doesnt recreates exact real life conditions of folding. Jerry Rig showed it already : in a pocket or a bag..the iphone isnt dust proof…and even a little grain of sand or dust can go inside, behind the hinge…and break the fkin screen. This “test” is just a fraud : the machine’s environment seems to be dust proof. Its not a real life condition test….

@user-bluesky10820 我猜想這是為了尺寸,也是為了讓機器通用。(Im assuming it’s the size and to make the machine universal)

TLDW: 103,108 folds by the end of this video and screen and hinge still good.

usless test as it should include a slight overbend when opening the display to mimick human opening it with a little extra force the opposite direction

Are you testing at a speed 8 times slower than the Galaxy Fold 1, a 7-year-old model? That is a truly shocking comparison.

Corporate discrimination is identical to racism.
Don’t call it a test—call it an ad.
Don’t call it journalism—call it an advertising rag.

I think more than 200,000 times is already great, if i fold and unfold it like 50 times a day, it will last 4000 days before damage..from the live video it seems the crease is still good looking.. i like the test folding speed, this is like the speed of normal users folding and unfolding…
