If you’re on an 11 or 12 pro max – there’s little reason to upgrade. If you’re shooting short films it would be better to get an actual camera.

Probably not but the battery life upgrade is worthwhile. Camera upgrades are nice but not revolutionary. Pro Res a pretty big deal if you need it. I don’t care about 120 hz display. Smaller notch is nice. I was really hoping the LEO satellite capability was a thing….that would have been a big deal.

@B C 08 agreed satphone would be a game changer. It would compete with a whole new market (iridium garmin etc) and those phones are expensive. I’m guessing next 2-3 years apple may do that, the tech is cutting edge to get it that small.

Why get a camera when you have a good one on the iPhone 13 pro ????

    • B C 08

      September 16, 2021 at 12:16 am

@Booty I think the idea was that the iPhone satellite capability would only allow for connectivity when there is no cell reception or for emergency situations and would only be available in certain markets. It’s possible that the 13 may have it but Apple didn’t a advertise it because of limited usage. Some pretty reputable source were reported the iPhone had a custom X60 modem that allowed for LEO capability. ????????‍♂️

    • coose

      September 15, 2021 at 7:07 pm

this is being addressed with a software update. ios 15 will remove the lens flare baked into its software, no need to upgrade

So excited. This is going to be my first Iphone ever, after using Android for 11 years. Currently using a OnePlus 7 and the camera is just not it. As someone who loves taking pictures, I am looking forward to owning an Iphone 13Pro!

At the very least, wait until the Pixel 6 Pro comes out soon. I guarantee it will embarrass the iphone 13 in photography.

@Nicomanism once you are in the ecosystem you won’t be able to escape, I am suck after this last year. It all just works so well.

    • Nick Motsarsky

      September 16, 2021 at 12:24 am

@Kendall Miles That’s just not true at all. My girl had a Galaxy S7 Edge, then iphone 6S, 7, 10 and now 12 Pro for work. She’s sick of the limitations and wants an S21U and always asks to use my S20U. iOS is far too limited and basic for noobs. It’s good for casual usage, that’s about it.

  15. Nicholas Spencer

    September 15, 2021 at 6:55 pm

Disappointed they got rid of last year’s blue. I know they do it to differentiate the models from last year, but it was a cool option.

Can someone do a story about lifetime warranty screen protectors with different companies like ZAGG Invisible Shield, Mr. Shield, Megoo, IQ Shield, and Armor suit? Is it worth it? How is the replacement process for each company?

    • johnny bravo

      September 16, 2021 at 12:59 am

Of course it’s worth it I have 4 iPhones and have cracked the screen protector on each at least ten times and got them replaced for free many times and other times it was $10 through Zagg

    September 15, 2021 at 7:23 pm

Do phones need all this camera tech wizardry. I guess the non pro version is the standard “phone”.

Really think it’s time to evolve and stop giving the same old brick year after year.

    • Nick Motsarsky

      September 15, 2021 at 9:47 pm

      Yes, they do.

I prefer to handle an ergonomic Fujifilm camera. Much more inspiring.

    • LtW00dy

      September 15, 2021 at 11:53 pm

it used to be the case for me, but since phone cameras became “good enough” I rather bring only one device than a bulky camera when I travel. I appreciate any improvements they make on these devices. It’s not perfect, but gets the job done.

Everyone focuses on the camera too much, I’m buying it for the 8gb of ram. The faster CPU and GPU, for the price of $999 from the direct source no contracts. I current have a iPhone XR so I know I will tell the major differences getting this upgrade. iPhone XR only has 3gb of ram, I can’t wait to buy this phone. Lastly, a better LTE and 5g broadband antenna than the previous model.
