The only issue I see is that new iphone users are forced to buy a charging block. I have not owned an iphone since iphone 3G and am planning on getting the 12. But i have to dish out an extra $20 for a charging block. Not kool

Can’t say I’m a fan of the magnetic chargers. I love my desk puck that I just drop my XS on and lift off which I do fairly frequently. Having to pry the phone from the charger every time would become annoying quickly for me…. as would (I presume) the two-handed operation.

It has nothing to do with extra 25$ for the charger ( or the environment) The box is half the size of the one with the charger. So you can ship twice as many!

It’s all about Apple increasing their profits. They know how many people have previous generation Iphone’s. They could have just given a charger away for free if needed, if they needed proof you weren’t just reselling the chargers, they could have required that you bring in your old Iphone as proof that you do not have last years model. If anyone really wanted MagSafe, they could have just had it on a case instead of on the phone side, and purchased a case instead.

The removal of the plug and headphones was 100% a money making move. For sure there is ‘some’ environmental benefits to it, but all those go out of the window when you take into consideration the shipping and packaging of the now buyable plug, headphones and accessories. The whole eco friendly routine was a marketing tactic, a genius play on their marketing teams behalf but utter bs to their consumers. A poor decision in my eyes, considering most people upgrade every 24 months it makes no sense they ditch the plug this year. It should be next, so far if you have a type c plug you had to have owned an 11 pro or pro max which makes upgrading a really stupid move financially. They’ve pretty much forced users to buy their “new” accessories. Sure any 5w charger and lightning cable works, but the fact remains you pay a premium for the 18W fast charge capability. When in reality you shouldn’t.

If Apple would have cut the price of the phone, or at least offered the brick for people who needed one (and I’m going to assume that’s a lot of people with the USBC to lightening cable) then this would have gone over a lot better. As of now, it seems like spin on a pure money grab. As far as color. That Pacific Blue. Reeeeeaaaaaal nice.

Hmmm they said they want to save environment but sell us charger and magsafe 🤔 🤔 that actually extra 50 bucks for what supposed to be in the box, dont forget they increase their price with iphone 12 to 799. I guess technically it does save some waste, Like all those that already have lighting cables and USB-A bricks won’t end up having another one, And that means less bricks stockpiling.. Possibly ending up in landfill. And they save packaging waste by not needing so much without holding a brick. But overall, Does that make a difference in the current climate? I think it saves Apple some money in the process. As for making you buy a fast charger if you want one, Well you cab buy them anywhere not necessarily from Apple so they can’t have a monopoly on that.

lol, apple is one company that will always does the same thing….make minor upgrades to their phones and make them sound like a big deal. the iphone 12 design is just an iphone 11 with flat sides🤣…the major upgrade is 5g as for the other camera stuff its just basically apple being apple, if you care so much about camera details get a damn canon camera. magsafe is just like airpods which will one day dominate the market, wanna bet in a few years theyll ditch the charging port?
