My favorite TED Talk. I’m glad I’m doing much better since I first saw it. But still it’s a mess sometimes.

This is a naive view of procrastination.
The real reason procrastinator’s do so is because they are not confident in their ability to perform the task they need to do.
Tell one to get ready for a hot date, and they’ll do instantly, and do it well. (Or any hobby they have).
Tell them to do a task for something they do not care about OR are not confident in their results, and they may put it off.
Majority reason being insecurity of outcome, not a “I want instant gratification”, more of a “I want to avoid negative failure”.

It’s never simple in details. Both things are right. A person doesn’t have confidence to consciously do what he must, or he mentally exhausted, or he simply doesn’t want to do it. He may not eve realize it. Or he can, doesn’t matter. Point is, that is the moment when your monkey takes over, in the moment of weakness and uncertainty. It’s not a reason of your procrastination, just a part of the process.
