I’ll buy one when FaceID & TrueDepth is back. Its cameras are rubbish and it can’t take spatial photos/videos. What’s annoying is a lot of the ‘features’ that make it great are software features and shouldn’t be restricted to this hardware.

Impressive how apple made the iPhone Duo seem fun like the iMac G4, but the timing works against them. Tech in 2010 = magic, tech in 2026 = the thing people blame for wrecking attention spans, jobs and geopolitics. And at that price…pffffhahaha It’s not exactly winning back the general public’s trust

The apple watch is the only thing I actually like. The bronze finish is gorgeous. The duo though, not for me. I do like the matte and the new animations, but the fact apple still restricts customization is crazy. Especially on a folding phone where it’s ideal and kind of the whole point. And for left handed people not being able to move the dock is going to be a deal breaker for many.

Ok, but what is it like making a call on it? I saw one video where it looked like you had to make a standard phone call with it unfolded? Like, literally, you would be making a call from an iPad Mini? Is that true? Awkward, if so.

Finally decided now to order the Pro and wait for the Duo. The smaller outer screen cause I always wanted a Mini then the inside screen for other times. I don’t need telephoto(67 pictures in my library of 1000+ from telephoto) nor Action button. Wish the volume keys were on the side though 😂

Yes, Apple is charging you more because of tariffs and the dominance of data centers controlling the RAM, CPU, and other chips used in phones. Additionally, Apple is deeply involved with AI companies, creating this supply-and-demand situation. That’s why Apple, Google, and similar companies earn big profits for their shareholders, while the average customer is left with only affordable options like burner phones, which might be all they can afford right now. Looks like Huawei foldable phones are much better and more affordable. But you cannot get these in the USA because the USA is afraid of the CCP. And financing? You’re kidding. At 35 dollars a month, it would take about 4 3/4 years to pay off this phone in full. By then, the phone may be outdated, and there may be interest. Huh, Apple is probably doing this for millennials and Gen Z, who don’t have any concept of the dwindling dollar, and the new CEO of Apple should be ashamed of himself for this sly marketing tactic and for keeping customers in debt forever.

Until today Apple iphone does not have a standard built in app which can take videos and simultaneously show on screen information in a small PIP feature of my iphone app . am not talking about 2 way video call i am talking taking video whilst my sports app is in progress or take a video live stream whilst a small screen showing real time GPS map location for live reporting to police or emergency services. All other “features” are just gimmicks.

Duo will be great phone for my mom who just purely plays stupid game….yet she carries her iPad all over….she has a 13 pro max. Is this gonna be a good choice.
For me…personally…the duo is a no go. I just need a phone to be able to handle abuse. And I don’t think anything on a hinge is doing it.

I’m long overdue for an upgrade, still having a 15 Pro. But I’m so torn. I’m so anxious to get a Duo. But…it doesn’t have Face ID, it doesn’t have a programmable Action Button, and its camera features aren’t quite as advanced as the Pro. And yet, the Pro is kind of a little of the basic design structurally that we’ve had going all the back to 2007 and the first iPhone. And I’m not to big on the more recent models’ all aluminum bodies. Sigh…so I just don’t know. If the Duo added those features that mentioned missing? Then it’s a no-brainer. And maybe that’s Apple’s strategy. To just add those features on the next Duo, and then they’re guaranteed to make money on it in a year or so. Or to make a Duo Pro next year? Who knows? All I know is that I can’t seem to decide.

It’s all fascinating.
But you are right to point out the possible privacy issues with the Apple Watch recording everything.
This might be a conversation killer: we may become weary of talking about personal issues when we may be recorded even when we are not aware of it.
Instead of us all getting excited about Apple’s new gadgets and features, we need to all ask tough questions: is this the direction we want to go? (And not just accept that you can’t stop it). And: if the tech giants come out with expensive products, do we need them, really, and are they worth our hard-earned money? $2000 for a phone…!
